I'm considering going back to Uni. Does anyone know if my highers (1994) still count for entry requirements?
Edinburgh uni got back to me today. I'm too late for this years intake anyway, but my highers don't count if they are over two years old, so I'll have to do an access course. Which makes it more logical to go to Napier anyway (my other choice, they have a formal articulation agreement with the college which does the access course), so I'll wait for their reply.
Brooky, I have a mortgage, but I've just been made redundant, I've been stuck in a dead end job for 10 years, and I'd like to do something more satisfying with my life. And I can (just) afford it since the course comes with a bursary and a guarenteed job at the end of it.
I can apply for Adult, Child, Mental Health or Disabilities up here, but I think adult is my preferred choice.Mycenae can give you more info but generally you train in either Adult or Paediatric nursing. Where you eventually end up working is kind of up to you. You might find you like day surgery, recovery, ward work, A&E or whatever.
Regarding Radiography you can be a nurse working in Radiography so you assist with preparing patients for barium meals, enemas etc but what I think you are thinking about is being a radiographer and actually operating the machinery, taking x-rays, MRI's, CT scans etc. You would need to specifically train to be a radiographer to do so.
