Hi, I'm new to this site, as you'll soon find out. I've noticed there are Maps, in a BSP format for most games. We play Half Life on a Local Network. (LAN). How are these files used? Can the Maps (.bsp) be printed out, how are they to be used?
Any info. would help. I did a search and did not see the info.

Thanks for any help.

Hormones? Not really. There's a warning at the top of this forum for a good reason. People can't present an element of stupidity and not get any flaming reaction, it'd be silly.

Secondly, can you not use American spellings. It really is most irritating.

Firstly, you're not taking the piss? Nm if you aren't...

The "BSP" files, are the maps, as you know. What the actually contain, is a load of information that makes sense to only the game... It tells the game what the map looks like, and wouldn't tell you very much, allthough perhaps "You're not a games programmer". The next thing you need to know, is that allthough the maps for many different games are stored in "BSP" files, the files only make sense to the game that they're intended for, so you wouldn't want to try loading a Q3 map in HL, or vice-versa.

Attempting to print the contents of the BSPs, would give you a load of garbage that would proberbly fill your print-queue up with about 1000pages. I have made this mistake before, however i wasn't attempting to print a binary file, i just passed a binary file through a print-filter and then cat'd it to the printer, and b0rked it up :(

The forum is clearly labelled and sectioned off. It's not my fault we have complete idiots roaming in.

There are complaints about not enough players on the servers. I would recommend giving the "new arrivals" a little slack or the servers are likely to remain empty.

BSP files cannot be printed, they are the map files, the stuff you see when in game. Some servers run custom maps, BWCS2 for example. Lots of maps can be downloaded for your LAN games, you simply put them into your CS maps folder of all the PCs on the lan.

That said you'll get more more info and less flames in the CS forum :)

(I'm in a good mood tonight)

If you need to know/show what the maps are like take screenshots.

ps. or look on the internet for a 'walkthrough' or somesuch for the map.
