You're not supposed to choose names of NPCs or anything else in game like character races/classes.

Ifs a fairly harmless name, but I think Mythic and GOA see it as an attempt to confuse realm enemies in RVR situations.

Given it was harmless, it would have been nice if they let you choose the replacement name, and perhaps if you didn't choose within a certain amount of time, then force a change.

Sorry mate :/

Afaik "Lourikeen" would not be against the CoC and be damn close to you original name.

Have you considered this?

Roo - just to confirm. In my experience, in most cases where GOA are going to change a name it is because they have received a complaint about it, and in most of those cases they do contact the player involved asking them to offer a suggested replacement name... certainly they did contact Luri and ask, though he/she didn't check his email regularly enough to realise this was happening. I would expect that OldLuri is Luri's choice made after the original change and accepted as ok by GoA.

A short reminder - you ARE able to contact GOA via RightNow and request that your own name be changed if you are concerned that other may find it offensive or you realise it may be against the CoC. Doing so will not earn you any kind of punishment and you can usually request the name you wish it to be changed to.

Read the news from last week though, and take special note of the warnings about using extended characters in last names. I would strongly urge anyone with said characters in their names to change them using the /lastname command, and if it is a guild name I would recommend send a report to GOA via RightNow to see if they will change it for you, offering the new name also there. I don't think I have ever seen such a strong warning that they will be handing out punishments before, so I would consider yourselves warned :)

Well, this is what the CoC says about names:

- No names with insulting, degrading or racist connotations.
- No religious, sexual or political references.
- No brand, product, character or any other element subject to copyright.
- No inciting of illegal behaviour.
- No references that degrade other players’ characters or GOA personnel.
- No titles of nobility or prestige. Some of these can be acquired on the Camelot battlefields.
- The names of legendary people from the three kingdoms are tolerated, but please bear in mind the fact that developments in the game may bring these names into question.
- No names that could suggest that the character may belong to the GOA team or have the status of voluntary worker or Gamemaster.
- No names of towns, regions or characters in the game. However, guild names may, if necessary, make reference to such places or characters.
- All these bans also apply to combinations, homonyms and alternative spellings of such names as are refused by the present charter.

Doesn't say something specifically about races to me tho ;)

Lurikeen Invader is what you see in RvR, hence it is a character name. It is generic, but still falls into this category.

IMO LOURIKEEN is close to LURIKEEN and according to the charted above would be bannable (assuming LURIKEEN is bannablem which it appears to be)

I dunno...

Maybe it's just me but it was pretty obvious that that name was going to be changed sooner or later...

When they changed my lastname they did not contact me ingame or via email, until it was changed. So thats BS, if your not online when they decide to change it, they'll just change and send a "Your got screwd" mail

You can change your lastname whenever you want though, so what's the problem?

Bullshit, Xorta - where have they ever said they will do this? Read my post: I say very clearly 'most' times they change names this is their policy. It seems to me from the tone of the news that they are getting pissed off with having to change so many (tm)'d last names that they are probably running out of patience. All the time the GMs or CS reps are having to change names is time which would be better spent more proactively in other areas.

If the name of a character is against the code of conduct of the game, it must be changed as soon as possible. Those changes must be done either by Game masters, either by CSRs. They must contact the player in game, explain him the problem with him name and ask for a new name when possible.

Im ignoreing the rest of the CoC thou :D

anyway, they do NOT explain why it broke the CoC, only let you know that it did break the CoC, and give you a link to the CoC

They didn't allow him to change it to something similar to Lurikeen, like Lourikeen, lurrikeen, luriken etc if I'm not mistaken.

Well didn't someone actually know about the naming restrictions? I mean all games like this have those same restrictions basically. If you choose a name which violates the CoC, you're taking a risk that it will be changed and you know it. It's pretty pointless to whine after you get your name changed (I'm not saying Lurikeen whined here, I think it was someone else who started the thread [which wasnt whining really]).

Basically: violate the CoC - accept the consequences

This being my first game of this kind, i didnt really consider the naming stuff.

So when i hit about 35, i became aware of the danger to my name.

Reported myself, asked for a new name, got the new name 2 days after.

Do it this way, and youre pretty much free to chose a reasonable substitude :)
