Looking for a good template for a scout in 1.52

hello all,

i am looking for a good template for a scout in 1.52

i do want slam and 30+ stealth, i dont know if i must make Bow lvl 50 because some ppl say theere is no extra damage after 43 in LB

im a saraceen and use thrust, can still respec

Personally I would recommend something like
46 bow, 42 shield, 29+ slash, rest in stealth.
This gives the amethyst anytime style, which is quite nifty.

But im a saraceen, so i have more Dex, and thrust is based on Dex and strenght, but slash is only based on strenght, so i think thrust is better for me..

I decided to check out a high thrust scout on Gorre just for the hell of it and was not impressed so I wouldnt suggest going high in thrust.
I put my scout to 9 shield and 47 thrust and even with the highest styles I didnt seem to do anymore damage than with my current spec of 20 thrust.
I didnt try out high slash but as a saracen I dont think it would have made much difference anyway.
I would follow Odys advice but go 29 thrust if you dont want to respec to slash.
With Items and Realm bonuses you can even get away with a lower Longbow spec than 46 as above 50 LB you dont gain much extra damage anyway.

Many preach thrust, I was once a believer myself. Many things are relevant in this:

a) If buffed, you can safely assume that the gain from your higher base dex is negated

b) The modifier from the higher dex is not enormous, in my case its round 50.

c) Thrust has mostly crappy styles while slash has a fantastic style at 29.

d) Your worst enemies are NS and SB, which are conveniently placed on slash and thrust resistance respectively, meaning that nomatter what line you choose, you will be gimped against one assassin type.

e) Thrust has some good styles that chain off block and evade.

f) The slash styles that chain off parry are useless.

g) make up more stuff.

My main reason for recommending slash is the Amethyst style. If ure a briton its even better.
That said, I am not respeccing just yet. I am respeccing when the classes are finally done.

29 slash - ammy slash... great style for hitting through evade/block/parry.

I might be called a heretic or something but, heres my 2cp.

35 stealth(50 or at least close with items and RRs)
39 slash(50+ or at least close with items and RRs)
42 shield(duuh )
36 longbow(50 or at least close with items and RRs)

The difference between 40+10 bow and 50+10 bow is a whopping 12 damage(on normal shots with medium speed bow), whopee! thats some well spent spec points there!

Anyway, this will make you as good as you can be in melee, still have as good stealth as one can have(why not?) the enourmous reduction of 30 damage on the best crits, and slam.

Hmmm you really dont need a super duper high Base Bow spec, I would suggest going about 39 in bow or at a max 42, 42 shield, 29 if you go slash, rest in stealth, I would recommend high stealth 35+ since Scouts TL are planing to put forward some new abilities to stealth, also maybe for bow but thats not beeing worked on atm...

(Just a small sidenote, the higher lb the higher weaponskill = the higher damage on tougher targets. Damage cap has little to say.)

Err you get higher weapskill with higher bowskill - so.. less than 45 is stupid. Your cap wont be much higher BUT your dmg will be closer to cap.

take it to 50 you know you really want to, esp for taking on yellow players highest con is yellow at 50.
45 LB your gimping yourself go all the way, like you said higher weapon skill = higher weapon damage
please, please ,please go all the way to 50 and while you at it take stealth to 50 as well
