I see the rebels have with our help, captured 4 more coastal towns.
Exactly was does this 'capture' entail? As usual the press don't bother to give any gory details for the guys on 'our' side.
I guess the inhabitants gave them a tickertape parade and the evil Libyan sympathizers were hung to the soundtrack of a spaghetti western.

Yep, how many innocent civilians died in the process of 'recapturing' those towns. I bet they were really nice to the Gadaffi supporters in those places.

I just love the way the No-fly zone to protect civilians has been turned into a regime change by stealth.

I am also curious to know how they class the civilians in the pro Ghaddafi camp.

Collateral damage?

Collateral damage?

They class them as irrelevant, merely an obstacle in the road to regime change. Sadly the media have jumped on the bandwagon and are not reporting this story from both sides, they are more than happy to go along with the current agenda as it will keep them in news stories for months after the conflict.

What have they got themselves into?
Now the rebels are losing again, this is going to turn into a steaming pile of shit
and they'll either have to send in troops or leave them to their fate.

All this to get rid of the Devil you know.

I just cannot believe how such numbfuckingly one sided reporting is passing as news, why are we so keen to get rid of him?
Is it just a sideshow to take peoples attention off how fucking stupid the whole thing is?
I have yet to see one, not one single person being interviewed outside of his henchman who thinks things are pretty neat under Gaddafi.
Please someone rerun those newsreel of reporters cosying up to the Mujhadeen
rebels as they cluelessly put together western Stinger missiles and then used them to shoot down poor Russian soldiers, who's side we should have been on in the first place.
I wouldn't mind if all this skullduggery was going on behind the scenes, but he whole of the moronic population are just rolling over when the government whistles.

Whatever might be said of Gaddafi's personal crimes, the Libyan people seem to be thriving. A delegation of medical professionals from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus wrote in an appeal to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin that after becoming acquainted with Libyan life, it was their view that in few nations did people live in such comfort:

[Libyans] are entitled to free treatment, and their hospitals provide the best in the world of medical equipment. Education in Libya is free, capable young people have the opportunity to study abroad at government expense. When marrying, young couples receive 60,000 Libyan dinars (about 50,000 US dollars) of financial assistance. Non-interest state loans, and as practice shows, undated. Due to government subsidies the price of cars is much lower than in Europe, and they are affordable for every family. Gasoline and bread cost a penny, no taxes for those who are engaged in agriculture. The Libyan people are quiet and peaceful, are not inclined to drink, and are very religious.

What a rotten bastard Ghadaffi really is eh?

The west should just declare war on the middle east; invade, pillage and plunder their oil and be done with. Nice and quick, like ripping off a band-aid. It's what they really want to do.

If by the west you really just mean the UK, France & of course the biggest terrorist state of them all - USA. Most other European countries are highly against intervening but sadly most of our politicians see the US as a picture of perfection and just a whiff of their ass makes them rush over to lick it. In a poll on the most popular Swedish newspaper/rag they asked if we should 'help' in Libya, and even with the almost 100% one sided reporting 65% said no. I'm sure you'd see the same kinds of statistics anywhere else, but as usual that's ignored. What's even worse for Sweden is that we'll be the ones taking care of the majority of people fleeing Libya, just like we did with Iraq. This is despite the fact that we have at best 1/6th the population of the countries responsible.

edit: Job, it's called manufacturing consent. If you tell a lie long, and loud enough people will believe it - see for example the 'WMD' in Iraq, if you ask almost any American today they believe the US actually found some.

The whole situation is laughable. How this has panned out into what it is today is just insane.

Considering we are being told that we are currently in the worst fiscal crisis since before time, i find it strange that we are spending what 3 million pounds a day for this and on top of an already overly expensive (12.5 billion as of 2009) Afghan War.

All done to safe guard Human Rights *cough cough* BP's interests.

Exacly, a psuedo-war without any merit, designed to steal control of vast oil/gas reserves. It still amazes me that the mainstream have bought into this bullshit.
