Yes some dodgy inferior american remake is quite clearly superior.

*sigh*

I didn't say it was better (I actually haven't seen the magnificent seven either) I just said people were more likely to have seen the american version. Since Oriental Cinema isn't too popular around these parts. Its seen as a niche market and thus doesn't get any press/advertisment.

You said it was PREFERABLE.

Indicating you'd rather see the magnificent seven than the seven samurai.

Which I took offense at.

A little subtitles and people get lazy, its like people who dont read cuz reading is boring *sheesh*

This about sums you up ECA. Why take offence at what someone else prefers to watch? Intellectual snobbery in the extreme. If you think watching subtitled films make you smarter then by all means carry on. Belittling anybody who prefers not to, makes you look like a pompous fool and that's not too smart.

No not at all.

I just think avoiding a film because its presented differently to what you normally like is silly.

And it pisses me off.

Especially when people say

*oh its subtitled*

or

*oh its just a cartoon*

as though that means they have no relevance and cant possibly have any impact.

EDIT: for eg, people who dismiss anime based on watch an episode of something like dbz, or dismiss subtitled films based on *oh i didnt like the first one i watched so they're all shit* - slightly exaggerated, but come on, the amount of people who dismiss anime without ever watching what are considered the classics, is astoundingly large.

Anyway, onwards with the quotage.

The american version of the Ring is utterly shite. I saw it and it was just utterly crap. I must admit the trailer does look quite good but the film really doesn't deserve to call itself the Ring.

I didn't say the magnificent seven was preferable I said I haven't seen the seven samurai because I found other films preferable.

If you remember back (to earlier today :p) you may have noticed my avatar was a picture from Akira. Also one of my (three) favourite films is Amelie. I still accept that people may not know of the films I want to watch. (I had to goto see Amelie on my own :()

Well I'm not gonna close it. I'm gonna set it free, if it survives it survives. It's for the best. It was never meant to be brought up in captivity, etc.

Run my pretty, run!!1

Just in case you've lost the plot a bit (although I'm sure you 2 intelligent gentlemen are just jesting) the current quote is:

"Human dignity is stronger than steel or bullets"

X-Men?

(from Schindlers List to X-men eh?)

Liberty Stands Still innit.

"I don't have a father. I have an asshole."

And, because that quote is nothing short of a bitch, an easier one from the same film:

"...there are lanes going east, lanes going west, and lanes going straight to hell."

Still quite hard though, I think. :)

Passed all checks for google-ability. :)
