will barrysworld be supporting Wolfenstein and running a league for us? I really hope so and it would get huge interest as no other Gaming factions (BY jolt) are doing anything at the moment.

I agree

I run a RTCW Clan and we would like to see a BW League start up soon.

very good idea

As Wolfenstein is shaping up to be one of the most popular on-line games, a league would be a very good thing for barrys to start

Yes I agree. I have a list of BW, Jolt and BY servers in my GSpy list, some with maxclients of 30 odd, most with 20 and every single time I play a game I have to wait patiently for a empty space on one of the many servers. It's popularity is certainly under-estimated. I've played q3 since the first test days and I never saw so many populated servers at any time as I see now on rtcw.
Imho rtcw has the potential to be more popular than q3+counterstrike put together!
A league would be a very good idea.

As an admin for rtcw, i'll look into it. I've had several ppl ask me this now. It does seem logical but we'll see, i'll keep you updated.

How long have you been a wolfy admin bb?

It's been a relatively recent event for my lending hand to be in rtcw, Alberto.

However, in a brief revelation of my highly acclaimed posts I am going to stick to the topic. I can say it is 'likely' there will be a league within the next month or so, we'll be able to give more information in the forthcoming weeks. I will be keeping you informed on this chaps, don't worry.

I'll make another update in the coming days when I can give a more accurate picture with a few more details on any plans.

great news.

Any idea on what stucture the leauge will have? i'm guessing something like the Q3 leagues with divisions etc.

how would we decide the seeding for each clan?

My suggestion would be games of at least 6v6, cos of the type of game/tactic style it is. Seeding would be difficult (apart from maybe a few teams who may have a reputation from other fps games). In the early days of q3, I think most 'unknowns' were asked to judge themselves what kind of level they were at. Imho, some kind of cup competition first off would give all a chance to get used to league style, plus give some indication of individual team abilities, and therefore ranking.
Lookin forward to it :) All I need now is to join a clan, hehe

I'm thinking for both organisational and seeding purposes we will hold a trial season of a few weeks, thereon judgements can be made on suitable divisions.

As leader of{WOLF} Clan I am looking forward to a Barrys League. Having competed for a few years in Motorhead online league, I know that Barrys will make it a goodie!!1

Maybe he's right, maybe we should be spotting the tw*t? I think it's obvious :D

Anyways, we were asking this question none-too-long ago on this forum - http://forums.barrysworld.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14970 - which didn't get very far.

Still, the offer of help is there - I'm about on the BW servers a fair bit, and play for the clan BDI.

I'm going to throw my oar in here. I, personally, think seeding is a poor idea - there's no basis for it. Sure, you can claim as much as you like that you're '1337' in Q3, and so should be ranked no.1 here, but the fact is that's a poor alternative. I'm a damn good tfc player, and have played for some of the best EU clans, but does that make me a decent RTCW player? Nah, not by itself it doesn't...

I'd leave the 'seeding', if you even need to have it, until much later, when the league is running, and we can see which teams and players are coming out on top.

I'd also not play 6vs6 - it's too tight a limit for the teams, especially on some of the larger maps. If you're playing something like objective, fair enough - maybe you could get away with 6, but I think 8 is a more likely suggestion. That way you have enough people in a team to allow for a differentiation of roles, between attack and defence. It just gives you more room to work with - look how many other team games have settled for the 8vs8 option...

Anyways, I could prattle on forever on this one - but I'm certainly looking forward to playing in an organised league :)

gust0o is right....

I would also add that along with clans that will be moveing over some of em have had 10 members even over that and the old story of some never getting to play in matches or are standins. The nice thing about this is we could be seeing 8-10 player clans happily all playing in leagues and getting a game in and thats a good thing.

Good Game!

I personally have never considered seeding clans upon previous achievements a viable option. There's no logic to the idea as gust0o has highlighted and I can't see it being implemented in any potential league structure for rtcw.

I'm not even sure I like the idea of divisions with a game so virginal as RTCW. It could be a solution to have the first (trial) season without divisions, so clans can be judged on scores/performance and then reassess the structural options of the league for a new season.

Any ideas/comments/suggestions, plse feel free to voice them in this [illusion of a] democratic forum.

6v6 seems to be the perfect number for wolfy clanmatches, Played quite a few now with these numbers and the games are nice and tense.

I'm not so sure about 6v6 being perfect, but it does work... personally I think the more, the merrier ;) 8v8 really gives teams chance to sort defensive / attacking teams...

I've already said that for certain game types 6vs6 is going to be cramped - you can't realistically defend and attack with such a small number... but it's perfect when one team is simply on either defence or attack, on the smaller maps.

I still wouldn't go with it, mind... call me tainted but after a few years playing all manner of TF I can't get away from 8vs8 being the ideal :D

BB, too right - the end of season rankings would give you the framework of a division system anyway, so you might as well wait until then to see how to break the league down.

The only problem I can see with us all being heaped together is if we get large numbers of clans signing up - every clan would have to play the other in a traditional system, but since we're all in one big league, it could drag on a bit.

Mind you, we should be fine - it seems like the best fix, mate :)
