Would 1080p on a 5" screen really be noticeable over 720p on the same? I highly doubt it... I have to zoom in to read text on web pages as it is with my s3, so any higher resolution would just be pointless, apart from bragging rights. 720p works just fine for small screens. Even 1024x800 works fine for a 7" screen, so trying to out-retina apple is just a pointless exercise really, in my opinion.
It might work well though if you're trying to give yourself eye strain...
