America is mostly a conservative, religeous country. I dont see why they shouldnt vote for people who represent thier views.

We shouldnt go trying to overlay our mostly agnostic lefty beliefs on them, it doesnt work.

Actually it's not true. Secularism views are rife and atheism is the fastest growing 'religious belief'. Politics makes a very distorted representation of America.

Just a shame they have such a large army and means to use it. If America whas a communistic moslim nation would you feel the same?

Actually this is unironically a good thing. She won't be able to pass anything if she becomes president, because both the Republicans and Democrats will do everything they can to oppose her.

The country will fall apart way slower than with Obama as president, because they simply put won't be able to dismantle it any more.

No mate, it is true, agreed secularism and leftyness is increasing, and the more people they import the quicker that will increase, however for the moment the religious / conservative thing stands.

Not completely a bad thing either.

No, its a completely bad thing. I don't really have a problem with quiet CofE mind-your-own-business christianity, but that's not what these Tea Party fucknuts believe. You know why such an overtly Christian country as the US is such a dedicated supporter of Israel? I always used to assume it was because the Jewish lobby in the US had loads of power; while true, it turns out that's less important than the fact that a Jewish state is essential to the Christian Right's interpretation of the Book of Revelations; all they need is a "perfect red heiffer" to be born in Israel and the Messiah comes back and we get Armaggedon and The Rapture. This people are actively praying for Armaggedon.

Problem with America is that it's really 2-3 countries, the two on each coast (secular, moderately left-leaning, multi-coloured) and the one in the middle, where the scary fat white people with John Deere caps, a bible in one hand and a rifle in the other come from. These people are the Taliban in denim.

Actually the Tea Party isn't a product of Ron Paul.
It's a grass roots movement that spawned from the growing distancing of the politicians from from the constitution. The fact that Ron Paul is a strict constitutionalist and a political centrist is merely a coincidence.
I'm betting that the lefties will commission another porn flick in much the same vein as "Nailin' Palin" to besmirch Bachmann. If only someone had the balls to do a "Bareback Obama" flick with the holy commander in chief serving as a cum dumpster for the more radical foreign leaders.
I'm also betting that if it was done, the Bachmann one will get a pass while the Obama one will be axed and the producers jailed.
If you get right down to it, the Tea Party's main platform is, Do whatever the hell you want, just don't hurt anyone and don't expect me to pay for it.

With Palin on the team that's a given.

She can't even open her mouth without embarrassing herself and her party.

Why on earth do people have such a hard on for Palin?
She was grossly misrepresented in the media and somehow everyone has swallowed that misrepresentation wholly.
I guess when you desperately want to believe everything you're shown in the media then you get what you deserve, and in this case the Americans got Barack Obama. A puppet if ever there was one.

Yes because calling one of americas national heroes a traitor and refusing to admit she was wrong despite presented proof is such a good display of character....

Ahhh another case of misrepresentation.
Palin actually had it right, the media both misquoted and misrepresented what she said.
I'll dig up the articles concerning it, though that may have to wait until tomorrow as it's 23:30 here right now and I couldn't be arsed digging it up now.
Suffice to say she got it exactly right. There were some parts of what she said that a primary school history student would question in the manner the media did but when you delve into the hard history and explore the concepts alive during the latter half of the 18th century you will discover much of what is generally accepted by the American public about Revere's midnight ride is overly simplified and as such is flawed.

Found it myself..

Sarah Palin is correct: Paul Revere did warn the British

So she got it right, but in the wrong way.

So she is still wrong ;)

Facepalm.
Really?
Paul Revere's ride was about warning the patriots outside of Boston. While his ride extended to Lexington there was another rider, a woman named Sybil something-or-other who rode in the other direction who is almost never mentioned outside of deep historical texts.
They (not the Reveres) also rung the bells of the churches and lit the lanterns in the towns both to alert the local militias and to send a warning to the British that they were expected and the welcome would not be a warm one.

You may think its a completely bad thing - I dont think it's a completely bad thing.

However it's not really central to the point I was replying too anyway ;)

The fucking constitution. Someone needs to set fire to that document. It was written for a bunch of white guys in the 1700s because they were pissed off about paying tax (by far the lowest rate of tax in the British Empire I might add), and nothing's changed. Now its Holy Writ for idiots who bang on about "small government" whilst simultaneously supporting the most expensive standing military in human history. Problem with Americans is they flat out refuse to accept what they are; an Empire, with the rights and responsibilities of being one. Palin in particular is one scary bitch when it comes to foreign policy views. Ron Paul , in his defence, is more Jeffersonian and recognises small goverment comes with a small military, but he's also wrong because the US can no more wind the clock back to nineteenth century isolationism than the British can have India back. Its absurd.

I actually like "small government", and I consider myself generally libertarian, but the reality is these Tea Party fucknuts are nothing of the sort unless your idea of liberty is the same as theirs, in other words, Christian, white and too cheap to pay their taxes.
