The Burial

Here.
Here.
Where I rest.
In festering slumber.
My spirit has deserted me.
My final loneliness.
I am the spirit outside watching myself.
I see the coffin as it lowers down into its own abyss.
I see people around me crying.
I am laughing at them as I watch from the ether.
For they know nothing. I was but nothing – a hollow carcass.
Spades dig and soil patters onto the oak wood.
Darkness is ready to consume a silent future never to be reborn.
Decay awaits my body as it did in life.
All I saw was decay.
It was all just a matter of waiting.
It was all just a matter of waiting...
