Just don't run both copies of iTunes at the same time though. It'd get messy if 2 pc's were trying to write to the same file.

What's your home setup like?

Personally all my music and my itunes XML file is on my NAS, this way I can mount it as drive X on any PC and use that iTunes without it being a dick about everything.
How do you get the iTunes XML onto a network share? Can't seem to manage this :/

Hold down "Shift" when you run iTunes, it will then ask you to pick or create a library.

I set mine up so that the iTunes" folder is within my "Music" directory.

Argh - great tip but having two computers using wireless at the same time is more than my fucking dogshit Belkin router can handle. Gonna have to get a new one before this will all work.

This is pretty much how I run my iTunes libraries; one called "MP3" the other called "ALAC" so I can pick between them in the same way Meg suggests. Obviously don't want to load mahoosive lossless files onto my iPhone, so I sync the MP3 library with the phone and listen to the ALAC library on my PC (which also accessed via my Sonos system).

Embarrassing problem :(

I downloaded Apple's 12 days of Christmas app and downloaded all the free gifts. Now, many of them were shit and I now want them off my iPhone (One Direction for fuck sake) but unchecking them and then syncing the phone doesn't delete them from the phone like it does for tracks that I ripped from CD.

I need your help Peg :(

/edit: Coldplay too. Oh God help me.

Just hold down on the app on the screen (iphone wij, not your monitor!) and press the little x to delete?

Have you tried removing them form your Library al together then syncing?

Also check you iCloud settings if you have auto download turned it it might be resyncing them because you purchased them.

There's a option in iTunes that says sync only checked tracks or similar which enables that function. To be fucking honest though just delete One Direction completely unless you're about to embark on a lifetime of grooming you dirty bastard! ;)

  1. Tap Settings > Store on your device.
  2. Tap Sign In if you're not already signed in to the iTunes Store.
  3. Enter your Apple ID and password.
  4. Tap On/Off switch to enable or disable Automatic Downloads for each content type.

Aha - that's all turned off. They aren't redownloading. They just don't go.

I would try deleting it from the Library on your machine then syncing and it should go. If you purchased it from the phone make sure you right click on the device and pick Transfer Purchases first.

If the option is not enabled, unticking tracks in iTunes does NOT stop them syncing to your devices.

PS: *mock*
