Steak? Not sure about you but I can drive to 3-4 restaurants that serve good old fashioned steak and chips in about 20 minutes max. And I live in one of the most economically deprived part of fuckin Europe.

I don't know about you but nothing has become in any way metro sexual, but rather people are becoming more and more educated about leading healthy life's. Contrary to the belief of some; saturated fat in large amounts is bad; sugar in large amounts is bad; speaking shit in large amounts is bad etc.

And now you not after steak (as you originally said) but steak without vegetables? Eh? I'm confused. You are complaining about being served vegetables with steak? Grilled mushroom is a tradition with steak; as is a grilled tomato (atleast I believe it is). The same way chips is acquainted with steak. Vegetables seek to enhance the flavor of meat and compliment it. It's not because the 'vegetables nazi' want to thrust their long hard parsnips down your mouth - albeit you may enjoy it.

The fact of the matter is Mr. Toht you are, as ever, the fuckin minority that the majority learn to put up with (like those really anal vegetarians. The OP is not complaining about being served, heaven forbid, fuckin carrots with his steak, but rather the shift from traditional meals to foreign, more 'nutritional' meals.

And ofcourse no-one is forcing you to do anything; the majority just hope you will not be forced quietly - so we don't have to hear it

- rump steak
- gammon
- sasuage
- onion rings
- fries
- grilled mushroom
- grilled tomato
- bbq sauce.

eggs and beans on wholemeal toast is traditional and is more nutritious than some italian pasta packed to the tits with sugar sauce, zero fibre and very little protein.

maybe where you live is full of twats tohtori. if you want something plain here no one bats an eye lid. even in a mc donalds my mate doesnt like anything except meat and bread, he asks for that and he gets it with no problems. maybe veggies are more available but surely it just gives more choice to people who want them.

Aye it's no problem to me to give peoepl more choice, and yes, maybe i've just met bad cases of "uppity" waiters etc. Just seems everything is going veggie and meat is becoming the next "boohiss" issue to people.

Thing is, if it does, those peopel complain the loudest and get their way.

There you pay for your steak and side seperately so if its just the meat u want its what u get.
Its expensive tho £36 just for a good sized steak but i gaurantee it will be one of the best you have ever had. I have tried that kobe beef where they massage the cow and give it a bubble bath every day but its got nothing on this place. You need a bundle of money to go there. i paid £47 for my main course last time add the rest and teh drinks and it sums up to a huge amount of big mac's.

And supermarkets may be a reason, but it's not the source of the problem and the reason why steaks are becoming a rarity.

Supermarkets may have been the downfall of the butchers(and such), but it's not the cause of the problem i've said many times here; and that's the vegitation problem. Which, is what i was saying in the first place where the butcher was simply a sample.

You are sooooo right. People should take more time preparing their food, but instead they're bitching around how long it takes.

All that ready-made buy is full of useless chemistry to make food taste "better" and when you ask people about herbs, they look at you all confused. Hell ofc, it's all in there already, no need to think about anything.

I swear there is nothing better than a good steak, or potatoes made in a real iron pan without all that Teflon-coated shit.

I don't mind if it's veggie or not, but what really pisses me off is the attitude of wanting everything oh so good and healthy, but then buying it ready-made in some supermarket.

People don't want to live good and healthy, they just want to live easy and quick, while having the illusion of eating healthy stuff.

If you don't pay attention, it brakes easily and once the upper part of the coating is scratched, there is quite unhealthy stuff going into your food.

And: Teflon yields no real advantage. Yes, a lot of people will say "but ohhh, nothing sticks to the pan". Might be true, but that's the same for my forged iron pan. If you use it, nothing will ever stick to it and all you need to clean it is some water without anything else.

There is also some discussion about Teflon causing cancer, which CAN happen at very high temperatures. The point is, if you roast meat in a pan, you can achieve quite high temperatures (in the pan ofc, not the meat itself =) ).

But apart from anything else, it just tastes better when you use a good old forged iron pan =))
