Damn you!

Damn you for posting this link... I was very aware of my problem, but not able to admit it to myself. Now I have to... :D

Scary reading (and recognizing) one's life like that, but true, oh so true.

Wonder when I'll meet a girl who's into mmorpg's... Anyone out there? :D

"According to Low, it was I who had the problem, not him. This is how most gamers think. Deal with their gaming or don’t deal with it at all. They will play either way."

When will people realise that as a matter of rule we all form some sort of compulsive/obsessive behaviour.

Just some things are more socially acceptable than others.

The EQ player in the link is some nice, normal guy? How many of us really know another person totally indepth, there could be a ton of reasons he hasn't revealed or doesn't even know about his own behaviour.
I tend to think of addiction to something as a symptom of something rather than the cause behind the change in a persons behaviour.
Mind you I think the most common thing we suffer while playing just about any game is the competitive obsession to carry on and do a little bit more, bit more xp, need that item, got to get more rps!

I'm pretty sure most of us only spend the time we have spare on it though, I sure know I have other things I would rather be doing at times :)

The interesting thing about online games is that you are MORE yourself than you could ever be in the real world :).

Gaming is just a product of capatilism and selfishness in the world. Of course theres a thrill of being something else than yourself, the middleage is sure something interesting. But it was not a world of paradise, far away. It was a dark age with many suffering to deceases and bad condititions. So I doubt the only reason to play a MMORPG like DAoC is to be a respected magician or a noble knight, or summat. It's about the world being as cold as it actually is..

Fight capitalism, fight mainstream.

Yes, I'm a socialist.

This article is mostly a selfish try for approval and feeling right by the person who quits. Hardly objective, eventhough nicely put.

a good read.
But no realisation from me, it's not me.

I play cause it's fun no more no less. If i've got other things on with friends i don't play... simple.

what i'm intrested to see is how many ppl will be online on New Years eve at 11:59 alas i won't know as i will be probably un-conscious at a friends house after indulging in alcohol and drugs. Or still up right and with my friends looking forward to a new year.

For all of you that are on :/ "oh dear" nuff said

Heh heh! My parents thought I played it too much and took away my monitor! I really only played in the evenings...from 17:00-01:00ish with one hour breaks every now and then. Its quite a lot of time to spend playing a game but when you are level 40+ you need to put in that amount of time to actually level.

After two hellish weeks of not having the internet or DAoC I have finally got my monitor back except it has shrunk from a 21" Sony flatscreen God to a pathetic 15" curved piece of crap that makes strange noises! ~cries~

Bit funny, a solver person at home taking it easy or a drunk, and drugged person at a party. And you make fun of the first alternative :O.

True, good point. I'd prefer to be addicted to a game rather than alcohol and drugs alas i think i'm probably more addicted to the later.

Have a happy new year

I also found that at certain points I was associating every thing in real life with Daoc. e.g. Was thinking of one of my friends one day, whom I've known most my life and suddenly thought startled,
"Hang on, I 've known him all these years and I don't know what class he is.............. thats odd, I just can't remember............ oh, real people don't have classes!"

:p
