I dont care what colour or creed someone is. If they live here and pay taxes and go about their way of life in a decent manner they are more than welcome in my eyes. I agree with this tbh, I've recently moved to a suberb with a lot of asian families in Leeds, it's a lot nicer than most other places and no chavs on street corners

IF we had the right people in charge of each religion throughout history, then the world would be a much calmer and happier place.

Lets see exactly were the vote in Switzerland ends up as it is a direct infringement of the right of expressing ones religion, rights that are protected within their own constitution as well as the EU Charter.

On a personal level i have no issues with a ban on Minarets as i don't think it is an essential part of our daily lives - having minarets on mosques that is.

However, to stop any person from being able to practice their religion - obviously within reason, as i wouldn't expect some nutter that wanted to practice human sacrifice to be entitled to carry out his religious obligations - is wrong.

This is only due to the lack of atheists in power and a speculative point at best. Especially in recent wars, religion has had little to do with it. Power hunger, resource gathering and arguments are not religions problem, it's humanities problem.

If 100% of the worlds population, power holders and military personnel would be atheist, do you think it would create an utopia without war? Ofcourse not.

Mind you it could just be that people find the noise a bit annoying, I mean whenever I've heard them (the Minarets) the chanting always sounds tinny and is rather grating, I think there are also people who do not like the sound of church bells too and would protest at having bells waking them up every sunday.

It isn't, but in reality how many relgious folk actually actively try and 'convert' you? when you put it into perspective

Pick any thread regarding religion on this forum alone and you will have a myriad of replies saying 'religion is stupid', 'people who believe in it are idiots'
I find the same is true in irl, any discussion (with a group of people who are able to speak hoenstly and frankly) with even a small reference to religion you will get the same people 'shoving their views in peoples faces'

How is that any different to a preacher trying to convert you?
