is it easy to get started on here now? i dont have a buffbot account, no friends on excal, no money/armour etc. Just wonderd if its still possible to start from scratch and enjoy it?

I started on classic, but im just not keen on it for some reason

im planning on starting a Valkrie(sp) (bad move, or goodfun?)

hard to start from scratch, very hard and very very dull. All the xp action is in moderna, but when you do hit 40ish you can go on the well run raids that mid has and get all the credit you need for 1.81.
And dont start valks. they suck

Valks dont suck.
Ppl just ond t take the time to know them.
Valks will be very loved from 1st of February(thop not for RvR but for PvE purposes)

The game isnt dull top start from 1 i lvl chars from 20 -> 50 all the time. Without moderna.

well as mid has no petspammer they introduced a buff that makes thanes and valks count for more attack which gives other to-hit bonus.

Me and a couple of friends (some completely new to the game) started on mid about 3 or 4 months ago ... leveling to 50 was ubereasy (cause we had 6 people doing tasks constantly) but I was a bit afraid of the TOAing ... but it all went smooth. Mid has sooooo many good raidleaders I was planning to run a couple of raids but it simply wasn't needed.

We're all ml10 rr4ish now

Solo and no BB is hard and dull.
It would be best to try to find some friends at a similar situation.
And play with them, find some other way to communicate when playing then daoc itself, start using TS or ventrilo together, and you can tell dirty jokes and burp eachother in the ear.

Character choice.

Valkyrie

Valkyrie do not suck, they do sweet damage and are uber @ sniffing out stealthers.
They will also get a PvE uptune. That will do wonders on dragonraids/ML raids and such.
As it stands now, valkyries are not the first or 2nd choice for a RvR grp.

Do try out the 2-h spear valk spec for some frontload damage.
And styles such as Razors Edge (5sec from behind stun style).
Buff shear entire zergs

50 Spear
49 Odins Will
30 Parry

If i didnt have so many character projects atm i would put ALOT more energy into my valkyrie.

But atm im prioritising my Warlock and Shadowblade.

valks are nice class to play, good spear styles and anoying cone stuff for the casters.

warlord masterlevel aint a bad ml. got nice util.
Spear damage can be very painfull. and the group melee proc buff hits pretty hard (100-200 damage on top of your melee damage) nice for dual wielders in the group..

It's not so so so bad... when I first ever started on daoc i just lived on quest items and one time drops/drops from dungeons.. should get you through just fine until you get some gold together for someones old BG armor/rogs etc etc - xp part is abit dull tho yea just for the downtime mainly

My valk spec is

Sword 47/Shield42/Odins 43.

U get a much better stun then razor edge with slam, u can block , u have rezz, u get the yellow proc and all the buffshearing included.
Warlord is as far my favourite ML. U have siefelord in it, and at ml10 wargaurd gives of a 25% Asb bonus to every1 in a certain range of u.

I have 10 diff characters (well some more but they are less than 25 in lvl), and I find myself play these days either with shaman, thane and berserker. I find those classes nice to play.

But as you stated you don't got a buffbot account, I'd then recommend perhaps a healer class - a well played healer is always needed for groups. But if you need more melee oriented class, then valkyrie/thane. If more of a caster (dmg dealing) class then spiritmaster (darkness spec'ed).

If you fancy the most to play rvr, then dwarf pac healer (old school), or shamy with mainly cave magic I'd suppose would be best how to spec (tho I seldom play rvr these days, too many MMORPGs to play lol, maybe I focus back to camelot again when the DR comes).

PS: Try to get some early levels by yourself, and refrain heading to moderna to be powerleveled, yes you get fast levels (if you are accepeted to a group), but you'll lose the valuable experience of how to play your class with fullest potential.

My main fear i had, was to toa, but as it seems it might not be all that bad

Last thing, is there any nice/kind/fun guilds recruting? nooby starter guild is empty

Were not that big in the sence we got like 10active players in it. But there are ppl who are playing more classic atm
