Question iPhone apps and iTunes

I remember reading online somewhere, that if you have multiple devices they can all be sync'd to one account?

Does this mean I can just buy an app once, and use it on both mine and my GFs iPhones?

Well it worked for my gf back in the days for whatsapp. Not sure how it works though, as I didnt do it. I hate iTunes and it syncfail

If I understand the logic correctly you can have one id for iCloud (backup contacts, etc) and use a shared account for iTunes purchases (i.e. the store)

Goto (on device): Settings -> Store and then sign both into the same iTunes store account.

Just make sure you know that purchases will come off the one card. Otherwise you should use iTunes vouchers.
