Could you imagin me with kids? :D

Fortunately we're undoubtedly safe form that eventuality as it requires you to get near a girl ;)

<worries about Krypty donating at a sperm bank to complete his vile plan for having kids>

:p

On topic.... the internet is a part of modern society and people congregate there to interract in whatever form. My lad is 14... danger bells ringing all over the place when you consider what his hormones are doing to him right now.

The problem isn't the internet, it's parents. Parents of kids neglecting and alienating them to the extent that they either can't talk to them to understand the dangers of meeting their contacts in person (where it is innappropriate to do so) or they drive them away to the point of them running off to escape.

Censorship isn't the answer either.... sure, the internet makes porn images far easier to get hold of, but I was reading Mayfair and Penthouse magazines when I was about 11. Kids WILL have access to material like this so to try to block them from it on the internet serves only to drive them to find it elsewhere.

Sensible parenting with a common sense attitude, offering advice (hell, it's never taken from me but he knows I'll talk about anything he wants :)) and support is what it is all about. I let my lad chat online, play online games, browse forums etc and although he knows I can check what he's looking at, in reality I never do. Had a chuckle a few weeks ago when my wife told me she'd seen pictures of some particularly hot actress on his pc... I said 'great! she's bloody gorgeous' and earned myself a slap :p

Mank - get over it... I hope to god I can still have a good tommy tank when I'm your Dad's age :) Try to realise that parents do all those horrible things you don't like to imagine them doing, and enjoy it too

Mank - hasn't he got his own pc? If not then download adaware and install it on yours, then you can hint at him by running it after he's been on there and showing him all the stuff adaware quarantines :p

My lad uses my old Dell machine - well, it's not actually that old, so he's pretty lucky. I gave him admin rights so he looks after it too, so he gets to learn not only the smutty bits but also how to keep the pc running well. Of course, I give him hell if I find he hasn't been updating his anti virus with all the crap going around right now :(

And Mobius - where is that '/tell Jupitus Invite plzzzzz!' I've been expecting for the past few days - thought you were joining NC on Werner? Of course, now you've said old people shouldn't be allowed to have sex you'll be able to have me as your outfit leader and in a VERY bad mood all the time ;)

Pffft!!

hmm, has anyone actually gone and met people they know online?

I remember a mate of mine from college chatting to a girl in camberley... he went there, shagged her, and got beaten up badly by her brothers

happy days

I met up with my clan buddies for a game of paintballing once.... was class, all top quality people, and we had a laugh

Watch me get laughed at and flamed profusely:

I met my last girlfriend online. I wasn't looking or anything of the sort, just on an IRC network and she PMed because she thought my name was interesting and different. I was bored so chatted to her, where I'd usually ignore random people like that and we became friendly and it went from there.

I r nerd.

I was talking to a girl on irc once. Turned out she live a couple of miles away. She started telling me that I connect with her and that she is sure she loves me :/

*cue creepy music and leggy's bowels folding*

Anyway, she started stalking me and phoning me. Ex-directory is my new best friend. I eventually told her that she had to stop calling or I would be forced to bury her in some heavily wooded area in the north of scotland before she got the message ( I have exagerated slightly here).

The moral of the story is:

The internet is a scary place to meet women (Jonny, make a mental note of this pls :))
