I thought that but my dad found porn sites in the history and rather than just have a quiet word with me or tell me its not really right, or whatever. He went and told my mum then banned me from computer for 2 weeks....ok so I didnt do a good thing but he went a bit far didnt he? I'm sure he looked at stuff when he was younger.

Personally I think it is quite natural for a 14-year-old boy to be taking an interest in that kind of stuff. I also believe that telling him that is it norteh / evil / heathen etc can be counter productive and make us seem unapproachable on such subjects, therefore alienating him which is the last thing we want.

Its important to us that when he is ready he will feel able to discuss sex and its related topics with us rather than make uninformed decisions because he doesn't think we will understand.

Holy fuck! A parent with some sense. I agree with that pretty much entirely, parents that teach their kids that masturbation is evil and sex is wrong is a waste of time. They won't pay any attention, then when they do go out and have sex they'll get pregnant/get someone else pregnant or catch STDs because they've not been taught about it properly.

Nice to see a few parents have some sense.

I've met like minded individuals off irc etc. Ok, they were clanmates etc and via the irc gaming chans, you get an idea about who you'd get along with etc; three of 'em a good buddies and mrs milou likes 2 of them (which isn't bad :/).

My son's a msn boy and he has 23 buddy names on his list and has met them all. Just gotta be sensible I suppose.

I dont really see myself as a parent as I am only a step mum (no birth children on my own and there never will be :clap) but I do not think I would treat the situation any differently if he were my own

You still help raise him and probably have a say in the decisions, so as far as I'm concerned that's good parenting regarding sex.

Oh, and on a related note I was most disturbed to find that after going out for the night finding my PC riddled with spyware that somebody had obviously installed from porn sites. I don't use porn sites with spyware, and my Dad is the only other person who ever uses this PC.
