tbh it's not the client I'm particularly worried about more having a good server inc admin floating about the interweb. I have a need of Deebs and Gale tbh. I hope they show up

hehe Shovel's a LPB no polls as yet, though the idea is sound. I'll have to do a new thread and merge this one in, like I did with the necro thread. it's a wierd two-step shuffle but it works.

atm I'm thinking about dates. Something that is two or three weeks away at least. I'll edit the post to reflect this. I'm also thinking about the actual "official" UvT play: I want it to be short, so people can do stuff after (or even play some more if they like), but not too short. Something like an hour or so? I still have to PM some people about this...

I don't know. Do you have a server with admin access available? I was also thinking of some Enemy Territory because I seem to remember that you could download that for free.

Right now I really need to talk to Gale regarding the FreddyField server. Gale!!

Well to my knowledge anything can be run on freddyfield by turning one of the 64 player servers into a 32. Although it may be it can run alongside the existing two 64 mans servers.

I'm unaware of the adminability of the FreddyField at this time though mate: I've PM'd Gale but he's not woken up yet. I was under the impression that Gale knows all though, as he's the bloke I gave my donation to to keep the thing running. However Socky, if you are also in on the server and want to donate it towards gamesday I'll edit the UvT post to reflect this

Ok, some suggestions for games then;

Primarily it seems as though it's CS:S.

I own MoH: AA, CoD, RTCW, Halo and Far Cry. Others can be arranged via Play et al. But I'd need to know. What about other genre's? A bit of C&C: Generals could be cool.

How about not only a poll on who's playing, but who owns what? Which is the most popular game so most people can play? Just some ideas...

DAOC is Dark Age Of Camelot. It's a MMORPG. US vs. THEM is a playful jibe at the rivalry and unease between the "General" forum, ie this one, and the DAOC forums.

good idea, and one I'm going for right away.

just a note: I've been having some calls for games that I <personally> do not own. While I feel ok about buying say, Halflife and then Natural Selection via Steam just to play NS on Gamesday I am aware that not everyone feels the same way. The poll will show us what games the majority own, and these games will be the games we will play if we can arrange servers for our exclusive use.

As I said before i can lend your my server but I will need some sort of conformation before hand. it will be difficult for me to run CS:S or BF2 atm as my PC is on its last legs.

What about doing two maps. 1:45 round time. 15 rounds per side etc.

the leading post has been updated with a serious amount of info, including (but not especially) confirmed and unconfirmed games as of now in the polls.

also we are discussing having ET in there. Enemy Territory is a free (!) stand-alone game based on the RTCW, or rather, the Q3 engine. you can download the game for free from here. issues atm remain the availability of a server that we can have full control over.

now having a possible three games to play during the course of Gameday makes US vs. THEM some serious fun! As I can't manage everything myself I'll let you in on some info: Dommers and Throdgrain are working on some CS:S stuff (I hope ) and Babs -might- be thinking about some ET. I hope Gale wakes up sometime soon because I really need to know some stuff about the Freddyfield server, because then I can confirm BF2.

Will have to check again once you set the date though, but pretty sure I should beable to make thursdays and fridays.
