If you had a real lightsaber, what would you do with it?

LIGHTSABERS CAN GO THROUGH ANYTHING

Also I belong to the "dig yourself to china" school of thought that says there is a diggable hole to china at the bottom of every sandbox in the world. So ner!

He was a jedi though, he simply did not know it. This is all fictional as hell, but it makes me laugh that you think you could do anything with it at all.

how about geeking it up some more and asking about the tohtori picture: in the star wars universe, werent only very few lightsabers with adjustable blade lengths (that modification being pioneered by exar kun who had a fucked up lightsaber to begin with, being double bladed)? so that picture is not completely correct

Surely you just gaffer tape two together, then you would have a double lightsabre?

What about if you cut the hand off a Jedi (with a Katana of Doom for instance) and taped it to the handle? Would that work? Might have Jedi fingerprint or Jedi touch sensitive activation.

Surely any contact with the Katana of Doom would result not only in the death of that person though, but the death of all their ancestors since the beginning of time. In essence wiping out their genetic history and leaving no evidence of their existence at all? there would be no hand.

That is a good point if the Katana of Doom is set on full power. There is a dial though to tone it down to any level you desire. Level 2 should suffice to carry out the Jedi kill and hand removal. 10 levels in all you see.

Even if it could go through anything it wouldn't come up on the otherside of the world cuz' of something we call gravity :p

Since the closer you get the earths core the more gravity effects the object so it would basically stay in the middle :>

Hmm. Just wondering if the slingshot effect could be applied in something that would pass through the object.

Since the gravity is stronger, does the 10m/s rule still apply?

Think of it like this. The closer the object get to the core the gravity will be stronger so therefore it will fall faster. And as the object get closer to the core the gravity will be pushing the object in the opposite direction aswell. In the center of the earth the gravity takes out itself so the object would fall slowly into the earths core and stay there.

Did that make any sense? I didn't know the words in english I would have used to describe this in swedish ;)

I wonder if it would be possible to destroy this thread with a lightsaber.

Does it ever need repairing? I mean are there spare parts for it off the shelf so to speak? The element probably wears out after some use. Must be a Jedi Lightsabre Shop around somewhere where you can buy such parts. Maybe you could buy one cheap and do it up yourself? One that just hums but doesn't light up or the other way around. What about dirt on the neck? Does it jam? There is more to getting a Lightsabre than you realize. You could end up with a duff one. If you are thinking of getting one take an experience Jedi with you. One that knows how to maintain and fix it.

Not exactly...

It would get no force pushing it in the other direction until it passed through the center and was heading out the other side.

However all the way out the other side it would have the same force it received coming in and as such would only make it to the other side if it suffered from no friction of any kind. Since the blade might not suffer from friction but the handle would it would only get part of the way out the other side before bouncing slowly back and forwards and ending up in the middle.

Now if you didn't drop it but threw it down, you might manage to get someone assuming the handle was aerodynamic enough..
