The hardware doesn't particularly impress me, its how the software works with the hardware and the whole UI, you just can't get that from other phones, or at least ive never come across it!

I have to agree there - the one thing Apple seem to be reasonable at is intuitive software - shame they tried to "infect" proper computer users with that iffy Safari thing a couple of weeks ago - not the best "come hither" marketing ploy

And of course being the owner of a Sony Ericsson, I'm well versed with shit software. But, it works, I still can't see the logic in spending so much money for the privilidge. But if you've got the cash - why not I suppose.

Hmm, not sure I'd entirely agree with you there. I'm no Apple fanboi, but I don't think you can criticise them for lack of innovation. They're still the best UI innovators around, and they're the ones who lead the whole product design revolution in home computers. Yes, build quality is often iffy, especially on new product launches (which is why all those idiots queueing for iPhones are, well, idiots), but the current generation of iPods are pretty solid. And one thing you'll be able to guarantee with the iPhone is a HUGE aftermarket accessory market.

I'm still not sure I'd actually buy an iPhone, even with 3G; but I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand. For me it would be the lack of replaceable batteries and actually the touch screen itself that would give me a problem; maybe I've just got very greasy fingers or a sweaty head or something, but big-screen no-keyboard phones and I don't get on.

Did say in my last post that probably isn't quite true for their softwares and UI's, however not having seen the UI on an "iPhone" I can't really judge - but unless it makes the tea and washes up for you, it's unlikely to be entirely impressive.

Apple merely make me dislike them more and more with ever product launch. Anyone who launches a product who's entire selling point is a shuffle function you can't fucking turn off, is clearly a) a marketing god but at the same time b) profiteering fucknuggets who have no place making such hardware.

I've seen a couple of mentions of T-Mobile now. Got to admit, I do like the look of the W960i, but...do you have to use Sony Connect/SonicStage? I haven't looked at it for about a year, but it was still shite then, put me off buying a Walkman to replace my iPod before I went travelling.

There's a new version out for W960/K850. I'm not sure if the same will apply, but certainly on my W950 you just plug in the USB lead and the 4Gb flash drive appears in Windows Explorer, so you can trnasfer stuff that way. I've never used the Disc2Phone nonsense once :/

I think "never having a problem" with the Sony or Nokia UIs doesn't mean the iPhone UI isn't better. Having seen the demos the iPhone UI does seem to be a step up, particularly in areas such as web integration (the web UI actually seems easier to use than a desktop browser!)

On the other hand, I've just read about the iTunes ringtone thing. I'm not sure I'm reading it right, but it seems you'll be charged to convert music to ringtones even if its your own music! If this is right (and the wording seems strange), that's fucking outrageous.

I went in a shop today and they tried to say I could get unlimited internet that works for MSN/Skype etc and 800 minutes, 3000texts on vodafone for £45 which were crossnetwork.

After coming home and viewing it online it states I can't use MSN/Skype I can only browse, and the minutes and/or texts are not crossnetwork. If the people in the shop don't know how the hell should I

It's more to do with the fact that when speaking with them you sometimes wonder if they indeed do work for Vodafone.)

Picking up messages on your voicemail on T-mobile costs money (why?) but I guess it's ok Cyfr because we all know no one ever really calls you anyway let alone leave you messages.

You're right, nobody usually leaves voice messages. I only tend to get voice messages from "professionals" like my councillor, but its not like he leaves me many

Do you have any idea what tmobile customer service is like? I don't hold any customer service department of any company ive delt with in high regard so im not expecting much..
