I'm pretty sure the lack of SD card and the b0rked bluetooth are concious, political, decisions that have more to do with the iPod part of the phone than anything else, because Apple are playing a delicate game with the music labels (Universal nearly pulled their catalogue just this week). The sim card thing just seems a stupid case of style over substance though. Can't say I've ever really worried about GPS, and by the time the iPhone gets to Europe it will have 3G. I have to say I'm torn; I agree entirely about the UI, definitely an advance, but the other niggles are still a bit off-putting.

Well I have to admit I got an N95 on t-mobile on the basis that if it sucks I can return it within 14days.

T-mobile haven't impressed me so far. On the website I registered but didn't put myself as the contract owner as I took it out in my mums name due to them demanding a credit card or passport which I don't have. Once i'd done this and realised I couldn't access a lot of the stuff I wanted to, I tried to remove it and setup an account holder one, but it refuses to let me even though it says its possible to do that.

I have not made any calls/texts on it, simply internet, and yet my allowance appears to now be £76 as opposed to £120 which I should start with. Which I guess means they're charging me for internet when it should be unlimited.

They left me a voicemail saying they forgot to get me (mum) to sign things in store so they want her to go back and do that, which is a pain.

The n95 is good, no doubt. I haven't experienced battery issues that people have mentioned, though I haven't been using calls/texts, I have however been using everything else.

I'm not convinced with the "two layer" system where the menu buttons are on the top layer and the text/number buttons are on the bottom layer. I don't have huge hands so maybe this is why, but I find its much slower for me to have to switch between the layers whilst doing things, where as on my k800i I have easy access to all the buttons without moving much which makes things go really fast.

The UI is much improved on that of the N80 when I first tried it on launch. I haven't noticed any bugs and it appears to be "faster" or "smoother" if you want to put it that way, however it by no way compares to the smoothness of how the iphone appears.

I'm currently undecided on what to do. This is only my second day so I suppose i'll know more soon!

Makes my W950's interface look clunk and makes the N95 look like a brick. Only bricks do as they're meant to without crashing, something the N95 is incapable of.

Mine did several times. It also refused to un-mute the microphone when I tried to make a call and had the interface from hell. This is why it's now back in a Vodafone store and I'm back on my W950.



Or I will be when they send me a SIM card that works in it.......

Thats not a bad price IMO - you can't compare battery prices with the cheap Chinese shite thats on Ebay, they're all garbage.

Just think yourself lucky you don't have to buy £500 batteries for your TV camera. 4 of them.

Yes it is bad Tom, all other mobile phones have user replaceable batteries. And it's your choice whether you get the official one for a bit more or the cheapo one off ebay.

Yup, it's been a while for me - but it's a rechargeable battery and they all have lifespans. The fact that you can't easily replace the battery is quite shit.

The battery will last a couple of years till it struggles to hold a charge like all of them, by then itll be time for a new phone anyway.

Doing it that way lets them keep it smaller & lighter, far more important to the majority of muppets thatll be buying one.

What's that got to do with me not liking the N95? My favourite phone of all time is still a Nokia (7110 ftw!!), I just can't be doing with their current range, except the 6300 which is a very nice handset. The rest all seem to have some sort of issue with them, mainly to do with the battery, almost as if they're trading on their name to a degree. I'll big up other manufacturers too if they make a good phone (I have an almighty urge to get a Motorola K1. No idea why, I just do. They look funky.....).

Oh, and I don't like Sony car stereos or hi-fi separates. I go for Kenwood and Marantz respectively for those.

I'd say usually a year, then you need to charge quite frequently. It depends on how often you get a new phone I suppose.

I wonder how Apple are going to price the iphone here, we are used to free or next to nothing phones on contracts.

Aye the 7110 is a great phone. I have a 6300 and it is also sexual. My fav Nokia is still the 6230i, Samm still has one and so do I for when I am charging the other. I do still have my Samsung U600 which I am taking to a bit more but Nokia ftw imo.

id probably pay 50 quid for it on a £20 a month contract, any more is just a waste I rekon. considering the phones you can get for free or only a few quid on slightly more expensive contracts, it seems like a pretty bad deal. might be alright for ebay though, and by the looks of things the hackers will have removed all possible restrictions within the next few minutes anyway.
