Anyone know of a way of reporting this to GOA without being in game?

It looks like GOA are having some rather serious network issues (to the point where they're not able to access the internet themselves).

Check the dev tracker on WHA for some info from James at Mythic.

That's network communication over TCP/IP. Whenever a connection is set up using the TCP/IP protocol, a SYN (synchronisation) frame is sent to the destination IP to check if the current IP and port is reachable, the source interface then wait for an incoming SYN/ACK (synchronisation+acknowledgment) from the same destination to begin handshake and establish connection. This is also how firewalls determine if communication is established or not.

Seems he's not the only one being a smartass, hah! :kissit:

thanks meight

Yup. My friend can log in, and his traffic is not getting routed the same way as mine. So it seems that the routing for some ISPs to GOA is down atm. This is one of the bad things about Internet. When it comes to low-level routing between ISPs backbones, they charge alot of money, so it's not always the BEST possible route you'll get, but the one that costs the least for the ISP. :(

As much as I hate to admit it, I want GOA to make a great success of Warhammer Online and for it to be a "10 year project" as previously stated by Mythic in various pre-release interviews.

However they won't do so by poor communication when problems occur or by messing customers about and having a piss-poor website (which hopefully is getting improved on shortly.) Most of all though they have to listen to their customer base and react to it, rather than talking down or ignoring us.

DAOC - EU dwindled so quickly due to GOA's poor customer support and frankly their awful attitude to the subscribers, the game was far from dead when numbers started dropping and I do not want that to happen to Warhammer.

I've no doubt this mornings issues will be sorted quickly, I hope so, for the future of Warhammer - EU, we really can't afford to put off players before they've even had the chance to enter subscription details! GOA you can do better than this, you've been lucky so far, don't balls it up now please.

"Due to these technical difficulties we'll be working with GOA to ensure our European players remain informed until they're able to take over communications once again."

Man, that sucks. Mythic devs posting about European server status on an unofficial WAR forum. How come they aren't able to update the European website with this information? I don't know if to laugh or cry! :twak:

The connection problems many of you are currently experiencing are caused by a problem with the European internet infrastructure. Basically, a connection between Paris and London is severed, affecting many large and small internet players alike, including GOA. We are in direct communication with our ISP, France Telecom in order to resolve this as soon as possible.

So, who's to blame here? Since it works for some people there must be a working route. Why do France Telecom not re-route the traffic? Oh, wait... Did they forget to invest in a backup route? I doubt that France Telecom is your only ISP, but if that's the case you might want to look for some redundancy by having a second or third ISP as well, to counter problems like this - because they do occur, more often then you might think...

Anyways, I'm impressed by the way you guys at Mythic are handling this, but that doesn't change the fact that GOA is all-out silent, which to me is alarming to say the least. How will it be in the future? I'm not so sure I wish to hang around if this lack of communication is whats to be expected...

The service has now been restored and all players should now be able to access the game.

But still, nothing about this on the European website. Awkward.

Can't GOA just give you guys at Mythic access so you can post it on there? :) I'm pretty sure I'm with the minority who actually got enough time to waste looking for answers on the "unofficial" forums... What about the rest?

News are now on war-europe. The reason we were unable to update our players on war-europe was that also our web management tools were unavailable. Besides, those of our users who could not patch, could not access our webpage, either.

Alright! Thanks for taking your time to fill in the blanks... I'll let you get back to work now (alas, I need my daily dose of WAR)! Mythic be praised! :worthy:

The 1.01 patch is not yet implemented. The thing is, to run WAR, the patch servers must be contacted and give the go-ahead. So whereas our game servers were unaffected by this morning's outage and people could play just fine, new players were unable to log in to the game.

Might i strongly reccomend your in house techies to give a deep reading of this article pls?
Cisco IOS Optimized Edge Routing Configuration Guide, Release 12.4T - Cisco IOS Optimized Edge Routing Overview [Cisco IOS Software Releases 12.4 T] - Cisco Systems

Might want to forward it to OpenTransit also since they seem to have no knowledge of such technologies being in the market since ... well .. almost ages.

Oh for the record, for a "small" fee i can have a look at the whole Network design and make it reliable (on hire!!!)
