First off i cant believe this manager. He makes it sound as if the music industry (labels) is being treated unfair, in the way that they are entitled to the insane amount of money they earn on their bands, but nowadays are getting less (because of piracy). The band should get paid. The people who work for them should get paid (producers etc etc). Im not saying piracy is good or anything, but the labels are whining about less income, when in my eyes they arent entitled to anything. What do labels do? Supporting the band with money when they are making an album (probably costs a good deal of money to complete an album) and advertising. But in the end the band wouldnt need economic support when making an album if the label didnt get like 90% of the income from the album. And advertising music? Doesnt music sell itself? Think pandora.com, myspace, etc etc etc. Advertisement isnt necessary.

To me, labels are obsolete, and because of the internet and various other technologies its now possible to make music without them.

I guess im just pretty pissed off because a guy like him managing the worlds richest band (isnt it?), goes on to whine about not being rich enough.

He even tries to put the responsibility on the ISP's and the people who make programs like limewire and the likes... Now fuck off or get real. These are the facts: the way music gets sold today is outdated, and you will never ever be able to stop piracy. Accept that you cant make billions of dollars on music any longer.

Do as radiohead and ditch the label. Sell the music like they did with their last album. Worked great for all parts. Radiohead got rich! Internet record sales were skyhigh. Customers paid less, and had easy access to the music.

U2 are morally bankrupt, I haven't been able to take them seriously for the best part of 20 years.

I think the failure of ISPs to engage in the fight against piracy, to date, has been the single biggest failure in the digital music market.

Yes because the single biggest failure was not not making music available to purchase in a manner customers saw fit in the first place :D

Meh, labels won't exist soon enough.

The fact that the music industry refused to move into the digital age and sticking to draconian dogma in spite of the rising availability on the internet is their own undoing.

The corporate fat cats saw this happening long ago and began prosecuting people (Hello RIAA) but this didn't do anything to serve as a deterrant - rather it pushed the whole thing along.

I can't do anything else besides laugh since labels have always done the whole "We pick who does good music" which has bastardised music itself.

One good thing thatll come out of this is NO MORE MANUFACTURED CRAP.

So basically we'll never see the likes of shit club 7 and stuff again.

well tbh its a good job you couldnt come up with a title because Chodax would have pwnd it with his one about kate bekinsdales flaming pussy, for which he won the title of the year award 2008.

i think there is so much money in the film and music biz i actually quite like it when pirates rip them off and then you see those bleeding heart adverts "piracy is a crime!! the poor artists cant afford their million doller coke habits and have to cut down to just 5 hookers a week, think of what your doing to these poor people!!" balls to them i say balls!

they earn too damn much for doing too damn little.

aaaaand another thing, they always moan about how the money doesnt make them happy and how they feel so empty and have to convert to some god damned obscure coconut worshipping religion and cry at us on sodding live 3000,00056 about how we should just "Give us your money for these poor starving kiddies" then they go and snort 5000 quids worth so no they can piss off i hope they all get pirated to hades and back the blood sucking leaches!

*breathe in.....aaaaand out....and relax*
