Let US and Russia play it out? You do realise US resources are stretched very thin right now and if they would start a big war with Russia Iran would attack them aswell. I don't think the other western countries has the luxury to sit and let the US defend our superiority, the world war between the west and the rest of the world isn't too far away.

Not to mention north korea, they don't like 'em yanks much either.

A nukewar between russia and US would be "ok"(as much as it can be), if it wasn't for the fact that finland is right next to russia.

Hell, if war breaks out, i'll be heading to Iceland.

Natural heating/energy, soil enough to plant stuff, room enough for housing, fishes, friendly people and strong booze and beer.

What else could one ask for :D

Enjoy your volcanic island that will sink due to earthquake that nukes will cause or due to ocean level rise cause of nuclear winter to follow.

I can never get how north korea is allowed to be entirely closed when everyone knows it's a dictatorship with no respect for human rights. Wouldn't surprise me if they were actually breeding some sort army of emotionless human killing machines...

Don't quite see the link Gorb, care to explain a bit?

Major point, i'm not disbuting your theories, nor confirming, just feel the missile thing is a bit more "dangerous".

Check history and see what huanity has survived. We and roaches, can't get rid of. My opinion ofcourse and noone knows :)

The link: Basically it says that a group of Russian tanks have started moving towards Tbilisi. Doesnt say anything about an assault yet.

My personal opinion is that humanity would survive even trough a nuclear war. But even so, id hate to go back to stone age.

You wouldn't. You'd be dead... And even though mankind as a species would survive that's not really a comfort considering how many would die. And really what does it matter if mankind would continue to exist, even if the planet would recover we'd all be dead and unburied and it would no longer be any of our concern...

No one wins a nuclear war. Why would you want to survive one ? If you're lucky enough to make into a bunker, how long will your food last ? 3 years ? Then what ? Everything above ground will be irradiated for hundreds of years.

Watch a film called "Threads".

Aha... right ;>

Well this whole war is just a part of the new cold war. Russias aim is to show those countries who want to host the missile shield that the US wont be able protect them. Obviously they are expecting that the US will save them if Russia gets angry about it.

Sounds like sort of a gamble though. If US realises that's their plan US they might get some strong european allies and start a war Russia will be hard pressed in. That would also encourage the countries being bullied by Russia to rise up against them

well, maybe.

i think its more down to US thinking that russia will be smart enough NOT to start WW3 over this. but i'm not so sure about that anymore..

/edit: dont think US and russia have been this close to a war since the cold one when Soviet wanted to place missile silos on Cuba...
russia is getting ballsy enough to even attack a US allied.....

using the MILITARY to send aid? lol...

i'm smelling a sneak mobilization ;)

lol a sneak mobilization by the americans! I've come to the belief that the americans can't do anything sneaky at least not in this respect. It would be too hard to transfer US forces into the country when the eyes of the world are watching both pro and anti US media sources. Just wait for the peacekeepers to arrive and things to quiet down. That would be the best time!!

They should have used the French.

they could then have staged a fake attack by the Georgians and the French could then do the usual and retreat in the direction of Moscow.

They could then seize the Kremlin before the Russians realised it was a trick.

Ingenious.

lol, that's some funnny shit

I'm gonna get some milk.

And in my honest opinion, as a man schooled in the art of war, yeh right, I don't believe that Russia or America would use nukes. Have you ever seen "Ze end of ze world?" far fetched cartoon, I know, but basically, It would happen. As soon as one missile flies, more fly in retaliation and then it's nuclear fall out. Only Hawaii will survive! :p everyone else DIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Horrible painful deaths, you DIE!!

oh they will, sooner or later they both want something bad enough to use nukes for.
