aye mikahs right get a juicer tbh theyre great have a big glass of juice with breakkie and i swear it'll see you right during the day, also i like sunflower and pumpkin seeds theyre really good if you want to snack (nice on salads too).

your saying you want to stop it but maybe you should listen because it sounds to me like your bod's telling you it isn't getting enough of what it needs and if you ignore it and try the will power thing you might do some harm, general grazing on crap through out the day isn't good but several small meals are more benificial than 3 set meals as someone rightly pointed out, also try and think if theres anything specific you've cut out of your diet lately that maybe your body needs?

failing that maybe you got a tape werm?

I think its a good feeling to be kinda hungry, so its not a major problem for me:eek:

But to help you out - eat many small and healthy meals, eat black bread - instead of white (dono what its called, but its black:p becouse of the slow calories in the black bread). drink shitloads of water! the reason fat people is still hungry after a zuperlarge dinner is often due to lack of normal water.

and eat sallad, it makes your body burn fat, and it makes you feel more full (dono the word, but unable to eat more, xD) pr callorie:D

Well, for one thing it will get easier after a while since your stomach will get used to not being as filled up and send less hunger signals. One little trick to ease cravings otherwise is to eat a carrot. A Carrot doesnt contain very much energy but it does contain caroten (or however its spelled in english) which acts as a balancing agent on your bloodsugar and will fool the body into thinking it has more energy than it really does, thus reducing cravings. Same thing with tomatoes but to a lesser degree. Carrots also has healthy fibers and are good for your skin (you do get an orange tone to your skin if you eat too many - speaking from experience).

About drinking alot of water - i imagine it will help to an extent, but bear in mind that excessive water drinking can lead to bladder damage and retention problems (read an article a couple years back by a doctor warning all the youths that were constanty carrying around a waterbottle, drinking and refilling it - the body can only use so much, the rest is just a strain on the system). Its also possible to amass water around fat tissue and this will increase overweight etc.

I've just skimmed through the thread so sorry if i repeat anything. For the first week or two you'll need will power to stop yourself from binging and eating unhealthy food. After a week or two the size of your stomach will actually shrink and will not want as much food/ will have gotten used to the amount you are eating and it'll be easier. There is a common problem distinguishing between hunger and thrist. If you have eaten lunch and feel hungry again after try drinking half a litre of water/juice and see if it fills you up, most of the time it will.

This may sound strange, but sometimes you might feel a bit hungry because you are bored and want to eat something because you're doing nothing else, so you have to ask yourself, are you really hungry or do you just want to eat something for enjoyment (eating food you enjoy releases endorphins which stimulat pleasure). Eating healthy is a major step for losing weight and many find it the hardest. Another tip is don't limit yourself to only one or two pieces of fruit for lunch, if you feel the need eat 3/4 pieces. Yes they have calories in them but they are also very good for your body (vitamins etc) and if you don't take in enough calories during the day it'll be near impossible to lose weight as your body will just store everything you eat and won't want to burn it off.

I don't think you should look at reducing snacking in isolation.

Here's the bigger picture:

1. Eat 3 meals a day
2. Drink plenty of water every day.
3. Get plenty of sleep every night.
4. Exercise.
5. Look after your body. You only have one.

Lets break these down

EATING

Your body will respond better to sensible eating rather than a cal controlled, slimfast, or other commercial / FOTM diet. If you want a choccy bar, have one. It won't kill you. But everything in moderation ! Thats the key. Don't pig out on high fat sugary crap. Eat a big breakfast as its gotta carry you through to lunch. If you fancy a snack, listen to your body. Feed it. But not crap. Fruit is great. Celery, carrots, raisins, some seeds/nuts are fine to snack on. You can have as much fruit and veg as you want. Don't eat out of boredom. Thats killer. If you're bored, get your ass up outta the chair and go for a walk around the park. Occupy your time so your hands don't wander to the chiller.

WATER

Without water you'll die. If you feel thirsty you're already dehydrated. Dehydration leads to loss of concentration, tiredness, stress, irritability. So you go for the sugar snack to pick you up. Bad. Take water over caffeine stimulants and alcohol. Drinks loads during and after exercising. Double your water intake on very hot days. Sweating is water and salt loss. Replenish with water. And as someone else said its great for your skin. You body NEEDS water. Make sure you drink a glass of semi skimmed or skimmed milk a day. Its great for your teeth and strengthens your bones.

SLEEP

Your body and mind require sleep. Make sure you take 6-8 hours of sleep every night. The odd late night won't kill you. But the older you get the less you can burn the candle at both ends.

EXERCISE

You don't need to be a gym junkie. Walk round the block after your evening meal. Take walks round the park at weekends. Cycle. Swimming is great. As someone else mentioned, you can get good muscle definitions and strength by doing push ups, chin ups, and crunches at home. Costs nothing. If you wanna build up fine, but gently. I recommend getting a fitness trainer if you can afford it.

LOOK AFTER YOUR BODY

You only got one. Try to stop smoking. Don't take cocaine. Be sensible.

You all know the difference between right and wrong as far as looking after your body. Willpower and a positive attitude go a long way

Good luck. None of this is new. But it works.

Its all down to will power, And what you have in your house if you know your going to get tempted by it dont get it or frow it away.

If your hungry still after having 3 meals drink water it takes the hunger away.

What i useally eat.

Small bowl of cereal (no sugar) ones so dont matter what.
Chicken sandwich, 3 bits of fruit.
Pasta and scrambled egg (sounds sick its fucking great thoe) salad on the side

thats what ive been eating past 3 days but thats with 3 hours exercise a day, bout to head down gym now bibi

Make sure you always have a solid breakfast, a reasonable lunch (you shouldn't skip it) and a reasonable dinner. They can be nutritious and filling without being packed with calories, fat, sugar etc.

Snacking is OK as long as what you snack on isn't bad for you - I snack on small pieces of fruit (grapes, cherries, lychees, tangerines) if I'm just feeling peckish and have something like a banana if I'm genuinely hungry. I also eat a lot of carrots, and sugar snap peas are great - naturally sweet, full of fibre and kinda fun to eat. The veg equivalent of a pack of crisps :)

The trick is to keep your snacking restricted to fruit and veg - snacking on cakes, bread, crisps, peperamis etc is going to give you extra calories (that you don't need) and not even fill you up.

If its your willpower thats the problem then whenever you feel the craving, do something different from what you've been doing - usually its boredom that makes you crave things, so get up and have a walk around. If you know that you'll be tempted to buy a choccie bar or whatever as you pass the garage, then leave your cards and cash at home.

If you prepare for your day in the morning, and have a solid breakfast (I have a bowl of that sultana bran-flakes stuff at about 8 - yummy, and fills me up until 11 or 12). Make yourself a sandwich that you're going to enjoy, and remember to put stuff in like fruit, a low fat yogurt, a cereal bar etc to keep you going throughout the day. That will keep you going until you get home from work, when you can make yourself a nice evening meal that should keep you going until late evening - then have some more fruit or something :)

Well weekday/daytimes are easy :-

Weetabix + glass of OJ for breakfast
3 or 4 bits of fruit to munch on throughout the working day
Nice cooked balanced meal for dinner

Its the weekends that kill me, being thrown out of routine and snacking.

You're starving yourself!
With all your cardio (sometimes twice a day?) you're probably going into such a calorie deficit that your body is breaking down muscle, holding onto fat and slowing your metabolism.

Try raising your calories upto at least 2000, probably nearer to 2500, hard to say without knowing how much you weigh/how tall you are/bodyfat %.
Try 6 meals a day of 400cal and eat before you are hungry.
Plenty of lean proteins, healthy carbs, healthy fats.
It's pretty obvious that chicken with brown rice is a better source of calories than a big mac though they might have the same amount of calories.
It takes 20mins for your body to realise it's full so most people end up overeating.
If you have a calorie deficit of 500 a day you will lost a pound of fat in a week.

and do this with cardio on rest days:

You have to peel them first - skin comes off a bit like an eggshell of a hard boiled egg. They're a really great snack fruit as you have to put effort into actually eating them.

They're the human equivalent of those cat balls that you put biscuits in that the cats have to work at to get ;)

One teaspoon of jam, marmelade, or sex every now and then keeps the snackbeastie away.

Remembah, you canna kick a habbit, you can only change it to another, healthier option.

They are nice but too difficult for me to manovuer!

Same with oranges and bananas, anything that takes that long to open is not worth it!

I'd love to be able to put on weight but no matter what I eat I still stay 8 and a half stone! BMI is very low at 18.1 but nothing I can do about it.

I'm trying to eat a bit healthier now as I started to think that while all the crap I was eating might not be putting weight on me it might have been doing some damage...

Still eat at least 5 times a day though... Breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and snack again in the evening (probably some other bits in there at weekends as well)...

As numberous other people have said, water is a really important part of any diet and alot of the time you think you are hungry you are actually dehydrating so even a small drink can take away the hunger feeling..
