How did you find BW?

I was looking for forum software, browsing the vBulletin site. It had the BarrysWorld forums linked (among others) as an example of their product in action. I read this thread which made me laugh.

Later I started to play games on BW servers.

Think it had something to do with playing CS on BW servers.

The actual site I stumbled across while I was in a TFC clan (showing my age...) and we used to play on the BW servers. Signed up, made a profile.

I was introduced to the warm bosom of the forums, however, by a friend, a year later on. So I've only actually been active here for about a year despite the "Registered" date, n00b that I am...

My first forays into online gaming were TFC on PCFormat and PC Gamer servers. These were hosted by BW, tho I didn't realise it at first.

First became aware of the forums when the news broke that BW would be closing.

Stumbled onto BW when wireplay v2 turned into an utter pile of shit. Whacked in the dialup number downloaded CS & hit the servers. Like RB I only came to the forums to sign the death thread (not with this account, HA!).

I discovered BarrysWorld itself back in the day when the UK Ra2 scene revolved around the BarrysWorld server and used to use the lubly dialup for BWRa2L matches. Oh the nostalgia ;(

I probably found the forums from reading the BWRa2L forums and forayed into the General forum one day. I don't remember much else, other than many accounts, temper tantrums, flame wars, general silliness and much love and I'm still here.

And what a thread it was. 13 pages of replies in 48 hours. Having a quick look through now it looks like an awful lot of people first registered then, and a lot haven't posted since.

( The really sad thing is that, even though I registered that day, it was the first time I'd ever used a forum, and never even got my post to work idiot )

Er, I think it was actually Embattle that helped me discover these forums. We used to play on Wireplay and as it started to die he was one of the people who'd started to play on BW so I thought I'd see what the fuss was about.

I played on the BW servers for a bit before joining the forums.
