How can I find out what sound drivers I need :/

Since I wiped my computer a few weeks ago I haven't received any sound from my computer. It was fine before. I use some basic battery powered speakers meant for an mp3 player that functioned fine before. I assume it's a driver problem but I'm pretty sure I have the correct drivers already. :(

It's frustrating me now, as is the disappearance of my monthly download limit from all the drivers I've tried. :(

Not sure what info is helpful here... but it's onboard sound from my EPoX EP-9NPA+ Ultra, nForce4 Ultra,ATX Socket-939,S-ATA,GbLAN,Firewire,PCI-Ex16 motherboard thingy...

Thanks Tom but I tried them briefly before work this morning and the first link doesn't seem to work, and the second one returns no matches. :( Is there another website I could download said drivers from?

Thanks

Cease this cockmongery at once!

A quick google for you motherboard name and the words "sound" and "realtek" thrown up ALC850, which is a realtek on-board sound dealie.

Realtek
I think it's the ac97 and not the HD driver you need. Have a go, report back. ;-)

I have a feeling I've tried that before but I'll give it a go when I get in. :)

Actually, I have a feeling there IS a sound card in my computer. Underneath my graphics card is a card I can't remember putting in, and it has jacks in it for speakers. It's plugged in too! How can I check what the fuck that is? :p

*making sure to have switched the computer off and pulled the power plug out before even attempting to open the machine.

p.s. google is your friend, use it once in a while

It will either be a modem or soundcard. Take it out and poke it with bacon.

If I was still working at the pc shop I would of sent you a free soundcard, but I aren't so I won't.

You have tried the driverguide driver finding tool obviously?

Yeah I tried that tool and it told me I was missing stuff but it's a giant cocktease and wouldn't tell me WHAT I needed and where to get it unless I paid to use it. :(
