Believe me, position isn't important. The Merchant Explorer system means that there is no such thing as a prime spot, just a prime price for an item you want to buy.

On the US servers, some bought plots at silly prices. What happened for the rest, was as they hit 20p, some Guilds got jittery and leapt in, most didn't. Rather more moved when the prices hit 10p.

Overall, the bulk of the plots (95%+)were still there when they hit 1p.

The last day, as they were able to, people found a plot vacant and sat on the peg, waiting and chatting with their new to be neighbours as the prices fell further. If there was somebody there, you moved on until you found a vacant one you fancied (there were still plenty available, even after the plots hit 1p).

If the house is going to be a Guild house, then with porting being available direct to it, ther eis no problem. Porting from the Guild house, is also no problem.

Something that was very good when houses started going up, was the number that made the houses public access, so people could share porters and merchants, etc. This helped small Guildws and individuals a lot, and by talking to neighbours, you could put in a porter or merchant for the benefit of all.

I ended up with 4 houses, 2 in what were thought likely to be prime spots on main servers I play on (one I picked up in an empty village with no peg sitters, when they were at 1.5p, so I could resume my sitting on another server), and 2 on Pendragon for character testing. As I said, the Merchant Explorer (an outstanding system, by the way) nullifies any concept of there being a prime spot. Search that for what you want, and you go with the bargains wherever they are.

So don't panic about it, and don't get people upset by telling them off because you have "pre-booked" a plot that they may not even have been consulted about.

The one who gets the plot is the one who clicks on it when it reaches the price they are prepared to pay. If they pay over the odds, then more fool them.

Only one thing, with GOA's notorious incompetence, are you going to crash the housing zone when everybody hits the buy option when the plots hit 1p (or is it going to be 300g base price like the US servers are now?). If you can, get people to stagger the buying over about 15 minutes or so to cope. Hehehehe

I hope you all enjoy housing as much as I am, and reap the benefits of the really useful facilities they offer.

Crafting at home is really nice. Get invited to go somewhere hunting or go RvR, just click on your porter after stocking up with what you need, and there you are.

few things this system comes in 1.64 if im not mistaken, which is atleast 2 months off for us. So having your house at a good spot is handy. A good spot is most likely an easy to reach location and where alot of useful consignment merchants are (so people run past them to check whats new). Off course after 1.64 distance will mean very little, allthough its still nice to have a good place and a lot is only an one time investment so if you want a certain lot than it might be worth it ;).

GOA does run stable servers though and I doubt if US servers didnt crashed it would happen on Europe servers. Besides on Europe we seem to have more cash, so there might be more lots sold before 1 plat hits, allthough from what I have seen in midgard Im pretty sure that we wont have all 600 lots sold when it hits 1 plat.

Well, bear in mind that the speed buffs you can buy in zone, carry you very far quite quickly, and the housing zones themselves are not really that big. So it doesn't take long to get beyond the entrance. Initially, the best bargains for shoppers will be away from the entrances - those who paid a fortune for their plots and Mansions tend to dramatically overprice on their merchants, those furthest away from entrances have the best bargains on their merchants.

Those speed buff sellers are also very handy (I made sure my house plots were right next to speed buff sellers). If you are porting somewhere, get speed buffed with them, port with your house porter, and you can get places a lot easier and faster than before.

Villages near the convenience of the Market Towns initially did better before the Merchant Explorers came in. But there are now Merchant Explorers at each zone's Market Town as well. So zone centre can be far more attractive than entrance anyway.

When Market Explorers come in, items for sale will be listed alongside the relevant plot numbers. An easy and fast way to get to those plot numbers, is set up macros for the houses you want to buy from. I do /macro HF### /houseface ### (where ### is the houseplot number). Buy a speedbuff, and then autorun clicking the houseface macro. It works a treat. To get back, do a houseface macro for your own home or a house near the entrance (or just click on doors until you find a public access house with transporters, and port where you want to go).

I have now earned very many plat from my house Consignment Merchants, I am pleased to say. You will also wonder how on earth you ever managed without those housevaults. :)

A /wave and /salute to all the old beta players. You were a great crowd of people.

But nostalgia isn't what it used to be, hehe. :)

Nope

It does say alot about Wildfires attitude though.

See for yourself in the original thread where he decides to stake his claim to what he viewed as the most desirable zone at the time.

His attitude is why this was a failure - not because the idea is unworkable as Tyka has shown ;)

Lowest level is 300g, ty.

300g is for US servers, (added a new zone in 1.64 so demand was lower, or something) according to goa the bottom limit is still 1p here.

Jupiter claims the 10 lots in Reban (Torrylin).

If for any reason these lots would not be available, we claim Rossmore and Calderwood.

Also something to keep in mind, only ONE Realm on all the US servers, didn't have enough plots to go round, before the added housing zone went in.

So no need to panic or get possessive, hehehe.

/waves to Harle. Hope you are keeping good? :)

not unless Lanarkshire's grown ten times in size....

lanark

strathclyde

Strathclyde is Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, Ayrshire, Dumbartonshire, Argyll and Bute

(and is an ancient briton kingdom formed before the scots conquered the place apparently, with its kingdom at Dumbarton)

can ye blame em? :)

they stuck all the shires into big regions (based on ancient kingdoms - strathclyde. lothian etc. and some made up bits like Central) in 1974 and then a few years ago they split them all back up again into smaller bits than they were before.

Gerry Mandering I think is the term... (probably spelt wrong)

We prefer the gentlemen's agreement. That's why we choose a spot which was not claimed yet.

We have several members who want their own house and they prefer to have it in the same village. That's why we pre-claim 10 lots.

We choose a housing zone which is not popular at all, because we want to ensure not having conflicts with other guilds.

We've taken all possible measures to avoid problems with you all and we hope we can keep our good relations that we have at the moment with all other Hibernia guilds.

Although Jupiter was not present at the "Housing chat group", and thus did not make the same agreement as the list of 14 guilds, we want to show our good collaboration with these guilds and subscribe this agreement.

This agreement will be respected by us, unless we can't have those 10 lots in Reban. In that case we will follow DAOC's rule "first come, first served" and we promise we will. No matter who pre-claimed any spot in the housing zone.

This pre-claim of Jupiter is only subscribing our good will, but you have to understand that our comprehension has also its limits.

Bottom line: we really hope everybody in Hibernia will respect this agreement, and that you, as well as we, can have our desired spot in the Housing zone.

Following intensive investigation (which involved many many minutes of running round in circles)

The Brotherhood of Hibernia would like to change from Solas in Meath to Breaghva in Torrylin

Apparently it has a pool for Luri skinny dipping.

P.S. tickets will cost 1g and grandstand will be erected next weekend
