Yep and the sad thing is that people now powerplay to 50, don't socialise or learn to properly play their class. Then to goto RvR and end up bitterly disappointed with the result because RvR these days is so badly balanced that 75% of the available classes are not considered viable by most groups.

FFXI and Horizons dont have any PvP (will have it later prolly, but not in the same way most likely). So those games are certainly not appealing to people who like daoc's RvR .
SWG does have PvP, but I dont think alot of people would agree that its a better game than daoc (its also not fantasy based so again in a slightly other market than DAOC).

Most people who do daoc's pvp spend more time complaining about it and whining than they do actually doing it. Says a lot for it really.

Spending half your time on portal pads and buffing at portal keeps kills RvR for me. It prevents any kind of flow.

Without that it would just be a turn-based CS.

ofc there is powergamers in horizons just like every other game but theres no point in powergaming in horizons coz atm its just pve anyway and im actually enjoying the pve not usualy my thing.

the only thing i am finding annoying about horizons is loading times when teleporting.

Best bit/funnyiest: You thought luris were funny? wait till u see a tribe of Gnomes running around with mini axes and stuff funny as hell.

Crafting? theres litteraly millions of different designs on armours/weapons/shields i had a fiddle around with it today and made a cool looking warrior.

ickkle Dragon fortehwin thou :p

combat is much like daoc you choose styles/spells from a quickbar.

Leveling is different for dragons then to the other races. dragons also age you start of as a hatchling then Adult then Ancient when you reach adult you can fly. how to age is a mystery most think its a combination of your lvl and your played time

but basicly its like daoc u lvl and u get some points to spend on skills.

Quests these are very interesting while they maybe boring you get some damn good things of them such as new abilities/xp/money/formulas.

grouping im not entirely sure how many can go in a group ive seen a group of 8 or so atm but im sure u can add more

that is what ive learnt so far and ive still got more to learn ;/

is fun thou at the moment.

houses are already implemented also.

soz for bad grammer blah blah cba writing nicely

I'm sure in beta there were rumours of aging being mostly related to your hoard than level. On most items you get an option to 'add to hoard' as a dragon, and I think the higher level/rarity of each item adds more to your hoard and you age quicker.

These were only rumour though as in beta we couldn't advance beyond hatchlings as the code wasn't implemented :)

As there is no 'end game' as such in Horizons the basis of the game is on roleplaying, enjoying the community and going out hunting and exploring with friends. XP grind doesn't even come into play, and if it did then the person that powergamed it to reach the highest level first would be kind of silly when realising there's nothing left to achieve in that aspect of the game.

if they're up, the servers appear pretty stable.
Didn't have a single LD.

Problem is : it's the usual 'new launched MMORPG' thing, servers are down pretty long.

Today they started a 20min downtime ... that was at 13:30cet.
Servers are still down.

Subs are 12.95€ per month.

Im quite interested in this also. Have a read up a little and heres some tidbits...

Casters in Horizons can cast even in melee, there is no interupt. Clerics seem to be pretty good at melee actually and look like the FOTM class to choose atm.

Combat in general is a paper/rock/scissors affair.. you engage and assume a stance. Once you are in melee combat you can not move forward and back just strafe only (until you disengage). That part sounds a bit naf to me. The different abilities/spells you have are on timers (although some can be spammed). The more powerfull/dmging moves are on longer timers.

You will most likely not be able to take a mob on equal to your lvl solo. I think you are evenly matched to a mob 3/4 of your lvl, this may decrease as you get higher.

You get experience by killing things or making things for crafting exp. There is NO level cap, so in theory you can become a god and kill anything and all in game.

An intersting thing is you can multi-class, so you can build up lvls in cleric class then switch to ranger and still have some healing + other cleric spells (although most of the unique spells will dissapear till you choose cleric as your main class again). So there are some good combination of classes to get to make you a lot better at what you do.

Their are base classes like cleric/warrior etc.. when you get high enough in lvl you can choose a further class.. like clerics can become paladins etc.

As for dragons, they start off as hatchlings and are very weak! It will be a lot harder to lvl a dragon then say a cleric. The bigger your hoarde the better armour/stats you get. You earn exp by killing things and or making things for crafting. Your dragon needs to have been created in your account for 90 real life days before you can grow to adult. You also need your hoarde to a preset size and take a 'right of passage' quest. Once you have met these requirements you can become adult and FLY! A similar requirement is needed to become an ancient (HUGE) dragon. Although I imagine the real life days will be something like 6 - 9 months.

As I said, dragons start off weak but grow to become the hardest thing in Horizons.

As a MMORPG addict, I will buy this game and give it a try. Although the idea of lvling with no particular end game does not appeal to me. The developers have said they are working on a PvP version. I dont know if this will be added into the existing world and be optional (like EQ) or be a totally seperate game/server.

Enjoy.

Yup, but casttime increases a bit when you get attacked.

Combat in general is a paper/rock/scissors affair.. you engage and assume a stance. Once you are in melee combat you can not move forward and back just strafe only (until you disengage). That part sounds a bit naf to me. The different abilities/spells you have are on timers (although some can be spammed). The more powerfull/dmging moves are on longer timers.

there're 4 stances :

red rock
blue paper
green scissor
neutral

if you choose a stance it's like the rock-paper-scissor game.
For example, red is strong against green, but weak to blue.
Neutral is no penality, but no bonus.
Some Abilities (or styles) gain extra strength from a certain stance.
For example, Power Strike gains +5 damage if in Red Stance.

You -can- move forward and backward while engaged in melee, but your AE tries to close the distance automatically until you hit the 'cancel action button'.

You will most likely not be able to take a mob on equal to your lvl solo. I think you are evenly matched to a mob 3/4 of your lvl, this may decrease as you get higher.

There's a 'levels' and 'Rating'.
Level is what you reached in a certain Class/Skill by itself.
Rating is a combination of all your levels, Skills and whatever else there might be lurking around.
Monsters are displayed with their Rating, and mostly they're specialized in one class.
So while you might be a lvl10 Warrior, lvl 15 spirits with a rating ~14 <shrug>
You don't necessarily deal the damage of a pure rating 14 Warrior.

You get experience by killing things or making things for crafting exp. There is NO level cap, so in theory you can become a god and kill anything and all in game.

think there's a cap at lvl100, not sure tho

So there are some good combination of classes to get to make you a lot better at what you do.

problem is, you don't keep all the abilities of an inactive class.
But there's Multiclassing and Prestige Classes.

Been playing it for a couple of days now, and so far I like what I see, and if anyone is starting out the game and might need help or whatever, you can contact me on the ICE server, should be on the character Daenerys.

The only bad thing I have to comment on in the game at the moment, is the poor graphics engine, which needs some serious help and tweaking.

Other then that, its a very fun game, with alot of potential.
