I can't help but think it's intended to dramatise, thus take away the realism of the situation. Why else have music over it?

For what its worth, I believe the media (the UK media at least - cant speak for US) has been largely impartial, thorough and not sensationalist at all

Again I'm forced to say: Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, 1000 Afghanistani PoWs, people, glass houses, stones

To be honest, all of the above is moot anyway since Iraq never signed the Geneva Convention.

Quite right too as anyone who can do such horrific things as 9/11 deserves no better. And if you happen to be not guilty, well it's your own fault for being muslim and looking the part.

Spot on Maxi. I think people forget the power the media have in terms of influencing public opinion for their own political agenda.

Yeah but I thought the absurdity of the comment simply spoke for itself.. didn't it?

Bif, I'm not going on about which side the media portrays.. but the fact that it appears to have no respect for the horror of it. They have shown the odd nasty thing, but on the whole it's exciting war fun!
And as you say, I'm sure the average grunt gets an adrenaline rush out of it, but war is still a terrible thing, something which I fear maybe lost on some people: and also maybe reason people side so easily for war.. because it doesn't seem like a big deal.
.. so I suppose I am going on about which side the media portrays

The media can only report as broad as view as possible of what's going on out there. It's not for them to influence people's thoughts on it, just report it and let people make their own minds up. Maybe what we've seen so far doesn't quiet fit in with the anti-war stance on what would/will happen as a result, so you don't like it much? Just a thought.
It is dramatised to an extent .... but that's tele for ya. I don't think that in itself influences anyones opinion on war one way or another though. I credit people with a bit more gumption than that.
