thank you nerds for spending 12 months of your lives making something that we'll probably never use but quite like the sound of \o/

I've ordered both games as each of them is going to have something that will be quite different that the other doesnt.
From GAME's online shop
As you may already be aware, the UK release date for 'Half Life 2' has changed to Nov-2003.
From an interview with Doug Lombardi of Valve
Il n'y a aucun changement dans la date prévue. La date du 30 septembre concerne le monde.
(Rough translation: "Yes, there's no change in the date. September 30th worldwide")
From Embattle's article, in fact
Talking to the publisher's UK arm, we were told that the official line on Half-Life 2's release date is: "To be confirmed."

I do find it annoying that there is so little information about release dates, conformation or denial of certain release dates etc....it would seem that HL2 has slipped to Nov:

Mr. Optimist
I have to say I'm looking forward to it being released and I've not been excited about a new game since Q3 came out.
TECH REPORT'S just-published summary of Valve's Half-Life 2 presentation at an ATI function is nothing short of grim when it comes to the company's projections of how Half-Life 2 will perform on Nvidia DX9-class hardware.
Just how bad are things? Pretty bad. Even the Radeon 9600 Pro out-paces the GF FX by over 50%, while the Radeon 9800 Pro doubles the FX's feeble 30 fps. These are in benchmarks without AA or AF enabled. The game isn't even playable on anything below an FX 5900
Valve's solution at the moment? Run the GF FX series as a DX8 part. Of course this means giving up all the DX9 eye-candy, but eye-candy isn't really useful when you can't play the damn game.
So there you have it.. as far as HL2 is concerned, ATi r0x0rs, Nvidia sux0rs.With Half-Life 2 scheduled to ship before NV40, it looks like there's no getting around the fact that ATI is the only game in town when it comes to HL2. As for Nvidia, NV40 had better bring substantial performance increases—or its going to get real ugly in the graphics war

Well the way I see it, it will have to go 'gold' very soon or its just not gonna make it in time for September.
Yeah , last time I was there I couldn't believe tha Game stores everywhere I looked. And all of them shoebox sized! Apart from the big one outside of the big indoor shopping center thing. (Forgotten it's name)Originally posted by FatBusinessman
Interesting story about how confused GAME seem to be about release dates:
In my home town of Cambridge, there are no fewer than three GAME stores, which is damned impressive for such a small town. In two of said stores, the release date for HL2 is given as "September". In the other one, it's listed as "November".
