hey im Xion from excal albion, just wanted to play hib on prydwen u see and well i am really confuzed and stuck on what class to choose first of all i love casters, i want a really good caster, i tried out a few but i think i was doing the specs wrong , so basically i want some ideas on what class to choose and how to spec. cheers guys and girls

Main popular choices [there are other good and interesting builds though ] :-

Eldritch/Void: NUKE nukenukenukenukenuke + some debuffs
Eldritch/Mana: PBAoE, need we say more?
Enchanter/Mana: PBAoE + nice pet + damage add buff for all
Mentalist/Light: nukenukenuke + heals + small PoT + toy charm
Mentalist/Mana: PoT DoT and HoT + heals + some toys

Choose one and people will give some guidance on how to spec it.

Note that the naturalist classes also get things to cast as well, such as the Druid's root, DoT and pet or Bard's AoE mezz and DD shout.

In Hibernia Ive only ever tried a Void spec eldritch

but I love it

I cant say what end game spec im aiming for. (I havent worked out what to do with the half lvl point at Lvl 40+.)
but up till then im going void all the way.

Only thing against pure void spec is although you are usefull in group for the DD & AEDD (if used wisely) thier is not much more you can offer the group as far as abilities go so you tend to play solo or just pair up most of the time (also you can use your bolts solo). But get into a good guild & you wont lose out on the social aspect of the game. Players on Prydwen server tend to be more friendy then Excalibur in general.

cool soo many choises well after playign with therg with 6 sec bt since the release of the game lol i think i might have a class which has good nukes.like an equivalent to a fire wiz on albion , are the pets which go aroudn with u (the underhills i presume) any good?

Luris are Excellent Nukers we are slightly faster cating but not quite as hard hitting as Elves. So I guess it works out, about the same damge over time.
Plus apparently (ive never done RVR) we are much harder to spot than lanky Elves

Eldritch dont get pets though

yay welcome to hib im actually about to make/work on caster alt stuck between a mainly light specced mentalist and manachanter .. decisions decisions lol which is better rvr? or depends on player? lol.. if you need any advise/help give me a send... im usually playing maedhros a send

hmm... how's about this? Roll a Lurikeen Manachanter, and get Mana to level 39, putting all points into the Mana (Moon) line.

Then from level 39 upwards, put everything into the Light (Sun) line.

The Mana will give you the 2nd highest pbaoe, which is all I use in PvE, and does nice damage in RvR too. This will also give you a nice set of damage-type debuffs, think it's 30% or 35%, can't remember off the top of my head. The Heat debuff is very handy when used with your Heat-based baseline DD.

The Light spec will give you quite high minimum damage when using your base line DD's.

The Underhill pet is really just a distraction in RvR, use the Zealot. In PvE, just use the Ally if in a group, and it will only be needed for the HoT or emergency heals. Use the pet to pull if you are soloing, and then build up for the pbaoe.

Also, remember that Hibs casters have the base line stun, up to 9 seconds. This is good in PvE, but essential in RvR

The difference between the casting speed and the damage for Elves and Lurikeens really is not that much at higher levels, and yes, it seems that Luri's have the advantage at being able to hide better than elves, and don't stand out more.

/em mumbles about Albs at amg ignoring Zeodrf, who was standing in Usp at the time, and started beating on Usp instead.

Need any tips ingame, there are loads of high level casters with loads of experience in both RvR and PvE who can help.

Void Eldies have got the Energy debuff which goes very nicely with the pbaoe's in groups

Light Eldies have a nice range debuff/nearsight which is very nice in keepraids.

sorry probably stupid question but looking at sites with spells stats looks like either pboae or light dds would suffer by being half and half.. so its defineately better go to 39 mana/37 light and left overs in enchantments (4) sorry to hijack your thread xion lol
