My preferred would be Carlos Santana, but SRV wins hands down in this.

I've always liked Steve Vai too, for, well some reason.

gotta be Hendrix, the things he did on guitar pretty much inspired so many ppl and changed music.

But it'll always go down to the old debate between the usual suspects at whos better, satriani, hendrix etc etc.

Neither, Vai blows them both away and frankly Nuno is probably better than them as well.

cant compare the two :twak:

and why exactly specificly tho's two ?

Well they are always the two top for me. Hendrix due to absolute revolutionising the electric guitar and Vaughn for his insane tone and sense of melody.

Very different. It wasn't so much about what Hendrix played, it was how he did it.

Hendrix is a legend no doubt, innovated a whole new sound and style of playing. SRV is very very talented but his own music never really did alot for me but then I guess I am not his target audience.

Yea i would say the say about Vai, i respect him as an innovator but the whole 1000 notes a second style was never my thing. ;)

Don't like the kind of stuff SRV does at all. Hendrix was a top gutiarist and had more cool in his little finger than most people have in their whole bodies. <3

Anyone seen Jimi Hendrix: Live at Monterey? I can't stress how awesome it is.

Aye, can agree with this.

Most people i tell that i listen to prince(power generation for the win!), think i'm a loonie.

The man does a LOAD of music, and yet, somehow, almost every song is pure gold.

I love Slash and his is very talented but he is incredibly sloppy at times, I have been fortunate to attend three GnR gigs in the early 90's and the amount of bum notes Slash hits in a 3 hour set is scary.

he is getting on a bit tho :p

Don't really like SRV or any of these speed playing as i dont think the tunes sound as good
Technically they are amazing, but the sound that comes out is far more important to me than the technical ability of the quitarist

Same reason i believe Daron Malakian belongs in the hall of fame, technically his tunes aren't really all that hard you could probably learn it in under a week but the end result is awesome
