it's also the thing that some of them simply cannot reform, it's a compulsion and they cannot stop themselves from doing it. So really the whole idea of using prison to reform rather than punish falls flat on it's arse with them; when a dog bites someone they put it down not because of the initial bite but because of the increase in chances that it will continue to bite in the future. I think the same should hold with sexual predators and to a degree some serial killers (some just go batshit as a one off and kill people but some have the same kind of compulsion).

I think it comes to the old arguement of what is more humane, locking someone in prison for the rest of their lives or killing them?

Tbh I don't really do humane things when it comes to these kinds of people I think kill them to protect others, simple as that, its not about punishment or revenge or being humane it needs to be done to stop anyone else being hurt by these people.
