Having big problems with NFSU

Hello guys! I'm having a REAL hard time with Need for Speed Underground (1). The game crashes at the start up, and some "send error report" thingy is showing up. I've heard something about ATI and NVIDIA graphic cards needs to change some shader options.. So, if this is the problem, how do I change the shader?

I doubt that's the issue - after all, ATI and Nvidia will make what, 99.5% of the graphics cards playing that game

I assume you've tried the obvious - updating your graphics card drivers, motherboard drivers and updated windows?

What components are you using?

Yes sir, everything is up to date. PSU 750W, Intel Core2Duo 6600 2,4 GHz, 3,25 GB ram (4 GB ram but running 32-bit xp), Nvidia 9600 GT PhysX and motherboard is MSI P35 Neo Combo. Sorry for late reply.

Well it's *way* above the games minimum spec. There are a fair few patches for the game itself too, have those been applied? Other than that, not really sure what it's likely to be, unless it's a copy, of which this type of failure is commonplace (and more often than no deserved!)

The game is a copy. Got the latest DirectX and soundcard driver is also up to date. The game is also patched with the patch 1.4 (pretty sure that is the newest) and all the cracks I've tried are same version. Also tried 1.0 cracks just to be sure.. Hmm.. This is really naging, really want this game to work! By the way, thanks for spending your time helping me out I really appreciate it!

Well it's also a notorious problem with the copies, and I would suspect that is where your issue lies. Sometimes doesn't pay to pirate! It's an old game mind - can pick it up for a fiver from Play.com and no doubt other sources.
