Nothing wrong in being drunk at 11am.

If there's nothing to do, vacation, continued night etc etc etc, why not?

Who's to say that 'this time of day' is the right time to be drunk?

Why would you get drunk at home on your own?

It's just sad & can hint towards alcoholism.

He has not said he is home alone or that he is not just still drunk from last night judging without all the facts is weak. Granted getting up at 10 then drinking all day on your tod is a sign of a problem :)

I go to the pub these days, and I get the usual hi how are you and then it ends. Er, sorry but there is only so many years of that I can take. Add the omfg the beer is extortionate in price and ehm fo i'll stay at home and feel just as happy :p

I don't like that status quo but that's the way it is, like it or love it, imo it's not so bad.

/hug bourbon :)

Nothing sad about it.

Had a beer while watching telly with friends?

What's the difference there? You get drunk, you get happier, you are social.

Only thing missing is talking bullcrap with friends, but you can as well talk bullcrap here. So every aspect of drinking, except mating, is there.

And why do you do anything? Because it makes you feel good, it's what you want to do and there's f*ck all anyone else can say about it if it's not harming others.

Society these days can go f*ck itself with it's age old standards and judgements. The time doesn't matter. Only way it would, if it effected work, stopped you from farming your land etc. Where the judgement originates mind you.

Why do you drink? Answer that and you'll find out that it doesn't really matter if you get e-socially drunk, socially drunk, drunk to be happy, etc etc.

Get with the times and leave your "OMG ALCOHOLIC!" at the door :D

In short; tell me why it's sad or wrong? What's the difference between e-drinking and regular drinking? Is it acceptable to get drunk if you're in company? And why?

I think some of the problem is that we are in a new century albeit a decade into it and we are still looking for something that defines our era. Thus we look at the standards of the past a guideline. Sad shackles imo, this is now, let fucking go tbfh!! Toht's right imo. My beer is fine as are my opinions and attitudes, listen/read/emote first then appraise afterwards if need be. Sometimes, listening is enough. For me,beer gifv atm xD

Drinking at home alone and drinking at a pub/club etc. are very different if only for the reasoning you place to that drinking.

P.S - thanks for the neg rep Imgo...oh wait...you were so drunk you actually gave me positive rep :D

I am feeling somewhat indifferent about it. Remembering times of prolonged homelessness and comfort in the pittance of the life I have now - but praising the latter for what little I have. I remember the 80's very well in my country. I remember those 2 years living on the street. Those were times spent just getting through. But sometimes I need to remind myself of how close to the brink I was and it could be.

At least it's fun now :) Bourbon 4tw atm ;)

I'm actually interested in the reasoning, it surely can't be just "Because it is", or by "Society says so" because free will would quite quickly fly out the door with reason :p

The reasons to go to a pub;

Get drunk (can do at home).
Socialize (can do over net these days, intellectual/bullshit needs)
Hoooking up (well, there's porn that can satisfy some of that need if so be)
Dancing perhaps? Can do that at home with less ridicule and for some it's a blessing as they feel a bit ashamed at clubs.

Are there others?

If the reason for drinking is to be social, to feel good and to get a buzz, there's really no reason why it couldn't be done at home and by the computer.

Time of day, as i said, only comes to play if you should be at work or taking care of kids.

This is said so often and is such load of crap.

I take it you go to church every sunday, you never watched porn and only hade sex in 1 position and always in the same room. You only have a drink with friends at a party and when you do you get seriously annoying and talk a lot.
You never touched a joint in your life and when you curse you say; "blimey".

Heh, i haven't bin drunk in years tbh, but i really can't stand people beeing holier then the pope. If people wanne get drunk/high or whatever, home alone, it's their business and it doesn't mean they automatically have an addiction. It's far better then the idiots that get drunk going out and get into a fight every weekend.

All I'm going to say is, I actually agree with Bugz. For me, drinking is a completely social thing, it HAS to be with people in a pub/bar or something, else I really don't see the point. I guess I still like human interaction rather than the net.

EDIT: I need to elaborate, I do drink at HOME sometimes, but it's also with other people. Only time I've ever drunk alone/before 10am was when I feeling like shit about 2 years ago... I do find it weird that I find it acceptable after 1pm though, two hour gap is a bit.. Odd.

I actually agree there is no problem drinking alone at home, I just think given the number of times img does it, and tells us about it, that he may have a problem.

Exactly.

Hence why I said 'hints towards alcoholism.'

If drinking at home made you an alchy then I think we would have a lot of AA's setting up.

Do any of you have any alcoholics in your family that you have grown up your whole life to?
