BBC don't own the Simpsons any more.

You won't see any more Simpsons episodes on BBC, should be on C4 from whenever they decide to start showing it.

What about Star Trek? Used to be on every week night and now I'm lucky to catch one episode of TNG a month. Yet neighbours is still going strong on its twice daily routine.

TV stinks, tempted not to renew my license this year if it wasn't for the late night boxing.

So now you select 4 instead of 1 on the remote to watch the Simpsons.

Hardship.

Meanwhile back at the UN...

I believe C4 bought the rights to the Simpsons around 2000 (maybe even early as 1999). I think the BBC's license runs out at the end of this year, but they've obviously decided to stop showing them early, and prob doesnt feature in their autumn line up. Although it is a programme that they change and move around at will, so who knows, it could be back on, before the year is out.

It did become tiresome tho, watching repeats of episodes.

Repeats of repeats of repeats of repeats of repeats of repeats of repeats of repeats of episodes, you mean?

I liked that one where Homer said "d'oh!" and then the episode where he strangled Bart.

The Beeb couldn't afford the extortionate prices Fox were charging for each episode of the Simpsons. For a broadcaster that won't benefit from advertising revenues during the program it just didnt make sense to pay. That is also why they showed a lot of repeats, they couldnt afford to buy new episodes.

If you want to wath Simpsons get Sky 1, then you'll be sick of it within a week.

On the other hand, they're bringing back Doctor Who with a harder edge and the man who may be this country's best TV writer - Russell T. Davies - at the helm.

I'm not even a huge Who fan, but this is a big deal for British Television in general. Well done BBC - only why did it take so long?

And Blake's 7 is coming back (and I have that on good authority!)

It won't seem the same without the wobbly scenery though.

Who they got playing 'the good doctor'?

They've not done any casting yet.

They are still script writing and are yet to staff a production team, let alone cast.

Avon gets out of prison 30 years later and is the catalyst for a new seven. It's being taken really seriously too, which is nice.

Richard E. Grant possibly, since he's voicing him in an animated series, but I'd love to see Anthony Head do it.

And with repeated viewings you soon realise just how trite it is.
Family Guy is much better IMO. Shame that's been canned.

I couldn't stand family guy. The new Simpsons episodes are still fresh and funny, it's just the endless repeats that wear you down. Futurama is still by far my favourite, shame they canned it.

I could imagine both of those playing him quite well. Neat!

I don't know who Head is (ooer madam), but Grant - despite being a cockmonger in real life - would probably suit the role very well.

Nah this one's a "proper" one (not the old captain america style sliding animation) coming out for the 40th anniversary. It's going to be run online in November I think then on TV.
