Not just those that have Exc as their home server, players on Pryd who have never touched Exc get a free day too.

Fair enough no complaints there.

The weird thing though, is that this now makes a definite and offical distinction between French, German and English subscribed accounts and the service you receive for the money paid.

Players who subscribe via the French or German subs pages, regardless of which server(s) they use, should by this notion, pay for their own translations and extra servers.

The French and German servers are now officially - not ours.
Not part of the subs we pay.

I'd be interested to know what others think on this, in case I'm being a knucklehead and missing something.

As I write these lines, Excalibur is coming back up. The last "ghosted" accounts are being cleared out as well ; everything should be back to normal. Also, the Hibernia relics are back in place as they were before the crash, which leaves us with Albion having 3 strength relics and Hibernia with 3 power relics.

Again, we wish to express our sincere apologies to the dragon hunters of Hibernia, the Midgardian raiders and all Excalibur players who suffered from this problem in one way or another.
All English players with an active account when the problem occurred will receive a free day which will be added to their subscription period, to try and make up for the problems of this weekend. This free day will be added sometimes this week.

They are not pointing the finger towards you, saying "you are english", because you play on english servers. They say it because u applied for a game account through the english part of camelot-europe.com

The whole thing has nothing to do with servers, they only make the connection between english players and english servers because it both has the word 'english' in it And through common knowledge most english speaking players play on the english servers.

The other servers are also "ours". Just not our "home" servers.

Not only do we have to wait ages for them to translate the text for the germies/froggies, but we have to pay higher monthly fee for the shit aswell.

All this because they cant speak english like the all the other western european countries (Spain being an exception)

Think you misunderstood, I'll try to explain in a slightly different way:

If ANY of the French or German servers suffered the same breakdown and were inaccessible, then people who subscribed via the English language subs page would, by GOA's statement in relation to the Excal/English subs page issue, receive no compensation at all.

Therefore, rendering the French and German servers not part of the service we pay for.

If it weren't for the "froggies", there was no DAoC to play in europe you moron...

Why is everybody always bitching at GOA? Bitch at Mythic for all the lame patches and changes, I don't care. But GOA has far less people to cope with patching european servers, plus keeping every patch up-to-date with foreign languages.

Ofcourse it's not an ideal situation, and could have been far better by just keeping the european version english only, but that's not the deal here (probably has to do with french people, but I won't go there ;p).

No they don't.

We are able to play on all the servers. We all (Fra, Ger, Eng subbers) pay subs to GOA to provide the service to us and the maintainance thereof.

Excal is, or should be, as much of a French + German server as theirs are, that we pay to maintain and translate.


Edit: And btw - this of course now incorporates the "3rd realm availability issue".
Maybe I do play on that German server you mention, to play Hib or Alb.

That's simply not how GOA works I think
If one of our "home" servers would crash, u get a refund. One of the other servers where it's VERY unlikely we are gonna play is not gonna give that. Maybe it's a bitch for you, but you already say you pay too much, how much do you think they would have to charge more of they gave every daoc player 1 day free when excal crashes. Now it's just one third (roughly).

Think it's less than 1/3 else we would probably have 4 servers too.

I don't really think I pay too much, I'd be happy to pay for the translations and maintenance of the other servers just to have the US patch on the English servers in a timely fashion.

"English" subscribers get less out of the whole deal compared to the 2 others:

English players have to wait for a ready made patch to be implemented, whereas French and German subscribers would have to wait anyway.
English players have probably the crappiest piece of kit running the Excal server, whilst the French German ones have been upgraded or more were opened to reduce player to capability ratio.
English players do not have a realistic "normal server" option to play a 3rd realm, purely due to the numbers game.

Also, not checked, so I can't state this as fact: English players pay more.

On top of all that there are other things to take into consideration.

Where's the in-game support? The test server? Chronicles? (I understand it's an issue with the files they get from Mythic, however patching faster at least would keep one group of subscribers happy.)

It all seems to be a case of English subscribers don't get - unless the French and German ones get - whilst the reverse is not true - which is simply not good enough.

Anyway, this thread was not meant as an attack at how GOA treat their customers, I have the option to pay or not - it's about whether they have made a distinction between the player base that maybe they didn't intend to do.

I think I was bitching at germans and frenchies for not being able to learn english. Hardly Mythics fault they refuse to speak anything but their native language is it? Why should I bitch at them? Moron.

funny thing is those english players.. ie english is there primary language and they dont know either french or german have to pay twice the ammount of money to enjoy the whole game.

As it stands any english speaking player that doesnt know french/german can only play 2/3 of the game with one account.

So in saying that we should pay 2/3 of the cost that the french/germans do ;p

Well, you better get your facts straight pal. MOST germans speak english and I can assure you that even some of the french people dont only know how to cook either.

I am swedish and I dont mind playing on an english server and speak english, why cant french and german people do the same?

eh? since when were we paying more? (in fact for quite some time I was paying less than anyone who paid in euros)

Think about how the comunication between Mythic(US) and Goa(Frogeaters) must be. No wonder the XML has been down for ages.-

Ask Ardamel and the rest how much time were put into planing the RR. It was not JUST one "payed" day. It was a RR we lost and there are no compensation that can make up for that.
It was the klimax for a lot of planing. Something I had been looking forward to and they took that away from us.
