Has GOA any plan?

I'm seriously worried about the rate that players are leaving our game. Does GOA have any plan to stop this negative trend?

It seems the "recruit a friend" thing didn't work out very well, so what's your next move GOA?

I like your game very much but I don't want to play alone.... :(

Catacombs will at least make it worthwile for new players to start up, they will still have the toa stuff to do, but they wont have to pve for 6 months of soloing bluecons before starting with it. Also, catacombs will likely get at least some old players to come back and try daoc again. If people see its easier and more fun to level again they might tell their friends that daoc is fun, and we get some new players that way. The gfx update should help abit as well.
Lets hope we get to see some nice advertising on the major gaming sites for catacombs.

Well I can't give too many specifics but there are a lot of plans for more visibility and stronger marketting and distribution links. We have recently signed up with a new PR agency in the UK who seem to be very keen and are working hard on raising the game's profile. I went across to meet them recently and spent a couple of days demonstrating Catacombs to UK games journalists - most of whom seemed very impressed. We also have new distribution deals in place which, in conjunction with other initiatives that are coming, should mean that anyone who wants to play can get hold of a copy easily.
Over the past few months we've also been targetting ex-subscribers and encouraging current players to introduce their friends, both of these initiatives will continue.
Overall I'm confident that we'll see even more new players starting. There already are a lot of new signups - perhaps more than people realise - but we will continue to keep building the game here in Europe.

If that means an automated email spam - then good luck getting people to come back

Eggy that is without doubt the stupidest post I've ever seen you make. I'd imagine the majority of people leaving the game are completely decent, but just cannot afford the time from real life needed to stay competitive. Have a think to yourself before being so insulting.

Could you define New Signups? Do BB accounts class as new signups?

New signups dont always equal new players

This sounds very promising, lets hope it turn out well :) Would love to see a a steady 2000+ primetime on excalibur again. Good to know your sorting the pr and distribution issues.

releasing catacombs should help a bit ;)

They said releasing NF would help RvR a bit to :p and see what it got them  Think if ya also wanna dig deep they also said Master Levels will not effect RvR and again see what happened.

Would'nt suprise me if Cats is gonna be just another nail in the coffin :m00:

Well if we are going to be honest id say NF did help rvr a bit. It may not be everyones cup of tea, but im willing to bet alot more people are able to enjoy rvr now than in old emain fg vf fg elite rvr, where you had to wait 2 hours for a decent grp before you saw any action. Now you can see where the action is, go there, get invited to a (admitedly non-fotm) grp and start doing stuff most evenings. Its not pwnpwn rvr, but its rvr. Im still not sure what i prefer tbh - i do like fg vs fg, but i didnt like waiting around sometimes several hours before i got a group that had any chanse of taking down the good grps. At least now more people get some kind of action. But yes, its a shame fg vs fg is rare these days.

It also means that if there are more new signups than we realise that there are also more existing players leaving than we realise

Since we can see the total numbers fairly easily :)

actually they never said anything like that ;) they specifically said at one point that some abilities would be purely for RvR. The "not affecting RvR" is a fabrication of the VN boards taken from misquotes and misinterpretation (someone did a hunt a while back to find anything that was remotely close to that statement...)

they said they'd not make you much more powerful individually but give you wider abilities... which is kinda true in some respects :) bodyguard doesn't exactly help a solo paladin.

As for "adding more stuff = killing the game" - how long do you think DAoC would last if they stopped patching/releasing expansions?

That's why there is so much whine about too many High RR Hibbies on Pryd?

Can't speak for Excal, but on Pryd it seems it's the High RR mids, now being followed by High RR Albs. Won't be long before high RR hibs go too out of boredom tho :(

Imo forget server clustering, it will share the same fate with account splitting and player marriage.

Speeding up patching, introducing player marriage and account splitting, fixing Chronicles would help a bit imo.

New sing ups sounds nice... in Europe - that means french and german servers again? What about english servers? I'm pretty sure loads more ppl would play DAoC if they even knew about this game... The country I am from it's pain in the ass to get this game here (=czech republic) and was more like a miracle we found out there is something like DAoC.
