Just think of it as a VR DAoC fight. You are a skald so try either singing to him to pacify him, shouting at him to er...damage his eardrums? ...or you could find a hefty lute and whack him around the head with it when he is not looking. :)

Ive been trying combinations on my cat:

I shouted Mezz, it ran off
I shouted Halt, it ran off
I shouted Stop, it ran off
I did nothing, it fell asleep

Conclusion - As long as I do nothing at all my mez should stick and then I'm safe to take his sharp objects away from him.
