Oh yes the saga continues. It appears there is a chance of a six month delay...

Valve has announced that it will deliver a release candidate version of Half-Life 2 (HL2) (a game required under the 2001 SPA) to Sierra/VUG within the next few weeks. If Valve delivers a release candidate version that complies with the contract and is a Final Milestone, then VUG will have six months to release the product under the 2001 SPA. Valve is pressing VUG to release the product early within that six month window, and its representatives have made a number of public statements without our consent or concurrence that the product will be published and released to the general public in September of this year.

The full story can be read here on Gamespot.

I doubt Vivendi's bank account can bear to withstand a 6 month delay.

Expect it for Chrimbo.

I really, really don't care about HL2 anymore....

...infact that's a lie, I'm utterly desperate for it, i've bought TWO different gfx cards in the past 18 months in anticipation of it.

However, this is just getting beyond "darn, another slight delay" and is now along the lines of "this is getting fucking rediculous".

This Valve versus Vivendi lawsuit thing could get very ugly over HL2.

I dont think VU fully understand the power and utter madness of the HL fanbase, just look at how commited and crazy some of the people that post and run HL fansites are. There is actually a very real chance of loss of sales for VU because of people deciding to boycott them and buy the game via STEAM.
