Less doing drug's then. :p You might realize this isnt a FPS where your skill is defined by your pace of strafing and how fast you can move your wank arm whilst spamming buttons.

So then you'd get two strafing players who constantly keep counter-strafing eachother! That kinda makes the point of strafing obsolete, they could just aswell stand still :-p

no, the one who does it best gets the most advantage.

It would be fine if you didnt calculate lag issue and game mechanics. So 2 classes fighting eachother with different ability's and see what the outcome is, isnt enough i guess. We need to add in the ability to strafe and abuse game mechanics to see who play's the game the best, with a top computer and high bandwith preferbly.
While some might prefer to play the game like that, others might not. They have no other choice, but to play the game, the way you play it, even if they don't like it.

We can continue debating whether it's considered skilled to be a good strafer or not then, imo not. But that's entirely my opinion ofcourse. I won't be whining on someone who strafes to get in positionals, because, it is infact not hard to counter as Censi said.

the movement system is there for a reason, end of story really. sure people can have personal opinions about if its fair or not, but it's better to just learn to counter it. it really isn't hard.

play 2d games if its too much to deal with

and just standing still with /face of /stick and hitting 2 buttons is also ?
Strafing requires skill so u wont mess it up for urself and running through ur opponent, well ur just a fool if u fall for that :)

First of yeh the movement system is there for a reason, but not to land side/backstyle's on someone that face'd you.
People do have personal opinions about it and are entitled too, just like they have a choice to counter it or not. Just like people have a choice to play any game they want, 2d (mortal combat 1, duke nukem, street fighter, etc still pwn) or the ones that are to much for them to handle.

it depends a bit on how you use strafe though tbh^^ Im not saying it cannot be skill, and i have no problems with people using it to get styles in..but just starfing like a mofo to get oov all the time isnt very skillfull:)

if you randomly strafe as much as possible you will also fail all of your styles :p

well with nothing to gain on strafing and opponent gaining lots it seem more like inherent disadvantage to me than anything else.

Yeh exactly and even though face to face doesnt involve much skills, there are still a couple of reactionary's or things todo left and if you get a reactionary stunn of or slam off, move to a different possition then.
In all fairness face to face gives a more honest battle, instead of strafing and abusing game mechanics to win.
I've seen battle's with habemus vs someone else that strafed which started at dc bridge and ended up at DC tower 4. But i guess we can't all play fair, nor rely on Mythic to ever fix this problem :|.

Your definition of a fair and honorable fight could be replicated by macro software programmed to spam /stick, style1, style2 repeat. Seems really honorable, fair and skilled to me:p

shrug.. most strafers are easy to counter and they usually just make more of a mess for themselves really :) Move backwards and in a slight circle takes care of most problems.

Funniest when casters keep doing it when I play BM, they practically strafe their own way right into my icestormchain without me putting much work into it, gotta love that :)
