you younglings - no fucking idea !

GnR changed everything back in the 80s, for about 1 year they were absolutely massive, indeed they inspired a rock generation.

Thanks for the Daily Patronisation™

We dont have to like the music just because they "changed" rock.

Fucking hate comments like that. I dont like The Beatles either...

'everything' meaning the spectrum of popular/'rock' culture of which they were a part of.

you could easily make the same argument for detroit techno & hardcore punk in washington d.c., they meant a lot to a lot of people too and actually changed something. GnR where just another rock band, yes they were popular and deservedly so i'm sure to fans of that style of music but i don't see what exactly they inspired except maybe young copycats hurting their friends by swinging mic stands around like lunatics at local shows. ;)

Guns n roses were awesome. Its difficult for todays young whippersnappers, to appreciate just what they did for music in the 80s. I laugh at todays so called "rock stars" who have zero chemistry together, something that Guns N Roses had in abundance.

I remember watching them at milton keynes back in 93/94 when they toured with Metalica. Metalica were boring, Guns N roses blew the audience away.

Axl Rose was a genuis. He was just a wanker with it and I dont blame the rest of the band for leaving like they did. The fact that Axl and his new backing group, sold out Arena's all over the world, shows the influence Guns N Roses had.

Hes Still got it

Guns and Roses were fantastic, I agree with Marc. They are just so much better than all the modern 'rock bands'. Bring back the 80s! Oh, and I voted for Use Your Illusion 2, Civil War is a great song but You Could Be Mine is my all time favourite GnR song. Appetite was great too, probably most commonly considered their best as it has the most famous songs but I just love You Could Be Mine =P.

I don't get why they were so great? Explain!

I think Slash is very over-rated as a guitarist.

Guns n Roses are probally my fav band(sitting here with a slash t-shirt on atm!). And i agree with what Marc said, modern rock bands are a laughing stock compared to the old rock gods like zepp/sabbath/gnr etc.

Anyway, i voted for Appetite just because it is the most pure rock album they did. Altough some of my fav songs like Estranged/Civil War are on other albums.

How exactly can you say Guns 'n Roses are oh so awesome compaired to todays 'rock' bands? Surely that just comes down to personal preference. I do agree with most mainstream modern 'rock' bands being complete trash, but in my opinion GnR are in the same league as them.

who you calling a youngling, I'm 37.

I was there in the 80's when they "changed everything" and my earlier statement still stands. They were/are crap.

That whole poodle perm/soft rock era still makes me cringe.

There were superior rock bands then and I can name one or two rock bands now who I would far prefer to see live than I would GnR

I think GnR rocked back in their day. Big time. But they've fallen by the way side now. Metallica are still going strong 27 years on

Well they are atleast playing still, they won't approach the awesomeness they had back in 87-89 tho :)

It's understandable tho, living like they did in the 80s takes it's toll on the body, and when you reach your 40s it's not as easy to get up the next day :p

But GnR were the epitome of rock, they did the sex drugs rock n roll lifestyle, they crash and burned. Metallica on the other hand were the good boys of rock just like Def Leppard and Iron Maiden etc who are all still on the go. But most fans of those bands agree that their best music was in the 80's.

They shaped the face of rock today more than any other rock band in exsistance. For music we thank GnR otherwise we would probably all still be wearing lycra and have Van halen on our iPods.

I must say it was Metallica who saved the 80s from glam rock tbh.

Wasn't the common saying that Black Sabbath invented Metal and Metallica perfected it?
