Guns are good enough, since they exist at all.

If guns we're outlawed, only outlaws would have guns.

They could have subdued him without a gun... british cops do it all the time.

Well the story is a bit biased for shock value.

We're the guys hyped on something? X'd out? Or whatever you call a pumped up druggie? After some point, a tazer is a fazir play on a cops part.

Why did the one guy resist?

If it was a tazer-gun mixup, well, fair enough.

If he shot him for being scared or some such, off the force, not cut out for it. Done.

If he just shot him, not needed.

so what? :p
It would mean the only people with guns are the ones specially trained to use them

It was towards no guns at all. Since this was a police shooting.

Not a discussion towards outlawing guns from civilians ;)

I was talking about police, if every police officer has a gun then the chance of something like this is exponentially increased.
In the uk we have specially trained armed responce units which turn up, your average street bobby has no firearms at all

Your argument is also flawed, if police also have guns the criminals have bigger ones so the chance of someone dying is higher

Well, flawed and "flawed" since that wasn't my argument as i was saying; if guns were out altogether, only criminals would have guns.

And guns don't bring bigger guns to criminals, as they would use them in case of these armed responce units too.

I think police officers should have guns though, in response to YOU, since criminals often do.

It's very simple.

Noone here other than you said guns should be out altogether, in the context of this discussion we are talking about street police not specialist divisions

No.... again to repeat myself as the first time didnt sink in
If the average police officer had a gun the average criminal would get a bigger gun to counter it
If the average police officer had no gun, then there is no need is there
This is illustrated by reasonably low level criminals in cities such as Detroit carrying shotguns and uzi's rather than hand guns like in the worse areas of england

I think police officers should have guns though, in response to YOU, since criminals often do.
and in responce to YOU
The average Police Officer having guns have been proven not to reduce the number of fire arms offences, while this may or may not be valid in todays society i have yet to see a credited publication to proove otherwise

If i was a cop with a gun and some one i though had a gun reached for his picket i would shoot them. Not really 1100% clear on that situation yet.

As for Police with guns we have it right only highly trained officers held to a very high standard, that being said i do think more beat coppers should get stun guns as the chance of coming up agaist a knife is much higher now.

It's in the pipe lines. (tazers for front liners that is).

errr guns ARE outlawed? the only people who are supposed to have them are police and farmers with licenses! unfortunatly others manage to get them too, but tbh (in the UK at least) you are unlikely to come into contact with guns unless;

1. you are trying to find a gun
2. you are/know/meet a farmer/licensed person who has one
3. if you are involved in crime/drugs whatever anyway

or 4. if you are extremely unlucky and some tard with a gun encounters you

I don't buy that the cop pulled out his tazer by accident. Every cop know where his gun is. They practice drawing and shooting all the time. The tazer is usually strapped to a separate part of the body precisely to prevent such confusion. If a perp was running towards him with a gun he wouldn't pull his tazer out in error. The gun was pulled out deliberately IMO

Title + "This is what happens when you mix volatile situations with guns and humans."

If the cops don't have guns, you think civilians would? That's a "banned altogether".

I didn't bring specialist divisions into it either.

Try again.

The title + original post indicate the desire to remove guns for good.

You can try and start an argument about it all you want.

And no, still no, (retard voice)since the first time didn't sink iiiiin(/retard voice)if police didn't carry guns, the criminals STILL would carry guns, just that the police could do sh*t all about it. <--fact.

Outlawed means completely taken out, cops n all.

It's a saying, f*cking Chronic just can't take it as such.

well... People think guns give respect, but they only create fear and fear doesnt do any good. if people would learn respect for another human there would be alot less crime.

/as if speaking to a retard voice
In the first post there is a link
the link refers to a shooting involving street cops
the first post is a comment in responce to the link (actually i read it more as a digg towards the ineptitude of american police, but thats of no relevance to this discussion)
Thus it can be asserted the discussion revolves around said street police carrying guns and being too trigger happy with them

If the cops don't have guns, you think civilians would? That's a "banned altogether".
In the UK street police dont have guns, neither do civilians (excluding criminals) a point i have repeated a few times now

Try again.

The title + original post indicate the desire to remove guns for good from street police and civilians.
corrected for you

You should keep your retard voice as it suites the content of what you type, see above in the context of the discussion (again street cops), they wouldnt have to have guns there would be a specially trained branch of the police to do that (a bit like, i dont know, real life?)

Outlawed means completely taken out, cops n all.

It's a saying, f*cking Chronic just can't take it as such.
Outlawed means illegal, illicit, unlawful not "taken out"
Outlawing (is there even such a word? /ponder) means making illegal
Which in countries such as england is already the case and we do just fine without every policeman/woman having a gun

It is not a common saying (in the english speaking world), nor is it a particularly accurate one so i am guessing you just badly translated it

Street cops having guns or not, wouldn't effect anything but their security and YOUR security if criminals with guns DO appear.

The "if guns were outlawed, only outlaws would have guns" is apt, and it's simply an amusing play with words, but hey, make it into something bigger.

Repeating that it's about street cops alone doesn't make it true, it's your opinion, not a FACT, no matter how much you call me a retard.

And with that, end of discussion with you. Well, technically with everyone, i said my opinion, that's it.

Proove it, as i said before there is no (read again, no as in the lack of) evidence to support that street police having guns has any negative effect on gun crime levels

Repeating that it's about street cops alone doesn't make it true, it's your opinion, not a FACT, no matter how much you call me a retard.
You have yet to show in any credible way that it could be misconstrude beyond that. You even replied to DocWolf who stated that law enforcement could be done without the street police having guns (as he refers to british police who, as i have said already have a special division and as a generalisation it can be assumed "no police shouldnt have guns" refers to street police shouldnt have guns)

In addition i made it very clear about what i was discussing, you seem to be arguing some fantasy land (as it certainly isnt reality where the law enforcement agency would have no department geared towards dealing with armed threats) where there are only polar options (as you have made clear that is what you are saying, by police you mean all police) whereas i was discussing based on the way things are done in real life

What always amuses me in these stories is how someone wandering about on the streets no doubt causing some problem that causes the police to need to turn up and try to arrest him, then resists that attempt to arrest him...

Suddenly in 3 seconds due to the actions of a stupid policeman becomes an angel who is greatly missed by the entire local community and won't be coming home tonight, sob sob.

If the policeman hadn't shot him, he'd of been some yob locked up in the local cells for the night, then probably out annoying people the next night. Certainly not the loving kind caring son that these people are always portrayed as after the event.

Someone should really get hold of those parents, tell them that had they raised their son to not be a chavvy tosser, then he'd probably still be alive today. Yeah the policeman was almost certainly in the wrong, but geez, can we stop pretending the yob resisting arrest didn't have something coming to him, even if what he got was over the top (at least in 95% of such cases).

I'm fairly sure that the number of gun killings by criminals is far far higher than the number of innocents killed by the police. Given that personally i'd much rather the law favoured the police rather than the criminal, but that just doesn't seem to be the case these days.
It's not even like you could argue that "well it could of happened to you" in this case either, since most normal law abiding citizens wouldn't need to be flapping about on the floor trying to fight the policemen, but would be at least providing some form of co-operation.

I totally agree with this, police train over and over so random stuff doesn't happen out in the streets. However I do seem to think after he shot that the cop seems to look at the gun at a sidewards angle and looks to the other cop as if to say "what the hell, this is my beretta 9mm...", although the cop should fry regardless of it being a mistake for his taser or the guy was on drugs etc. He was pinned down by both cops, the cop that shot got up (probably sick of him so if he was to taser him, teach him a lession) then bang... guy dies later in hospital!

NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! :twak:

Maybe not but...

It was the guys own fault.

Who, in any region of normal, doesn't know how to do as you're told when police come around?

Police evidently did wrong, intent or not, but the blame is at the guy himself.

I would imagine the cops would have a safety switch on their pistol :)
