Fellow Guildmasters, from all realms, and all guilds

Being a guildmaster is pretty much the most thankless task in the game, you cant please everyone, you cant solve all the realms problems, you cant run every event.

Well I say,

Well done, and damn good of you to atleast stand up and try, I appreciate the effort you put into the game for me to enjoy.

Without you guys, there would be less events, less organisation, less fun. I hope you have a good 2003, and thanks for doing the job no one wants to do.

Regards

Des

From a former GM who also knows the work with the rank 0.... Thanks Des it made my day. ;)

Thanks to all the members of Filius Claritatis for letting me lead them. /salute

"Nocturna says: Aranor you're the best GM I've ever had and I've played loads of mmorpgs." I could live on that line for weeks.

Hehe yes, I have had a couple of lines like that too, and it's a real boost. A few times in the past couple of months I have been close to deleting a 50 infil, having trouble just lifting my hands to type in the old game password even, but things like this, and having a great guild behind you, make it worthwhile.

Happy 2003 All :)

As one of the newest GMs around I can honestly say the reality of the "job" came as a bit of a shock and is still so.

However, I am surrounded by fantastic players who I have nothing but respect for which makes it somewhat easier I guess.

To all other GMs from all Realms /respect... Happy New Year

Des - Nice post... thanks

Wow thank you Des, that means a lot.

Being a GM isn't easy but you know when it goes right it is very rewarding.

Yes I get a billion sends and somehow I manage to respond to them all. (I knew liking to chat would come in handy). Also though, we are only as good as our support people. I am so thankful that I have a great staff and a great guild. I am really just the guild motivator, cheerleader, and psychologist. :D It is my co-leaders, officers and guild that make the difference.

I love the feeling when I log in and my whole guild says hello, love the feeling of being able to resolve a conflict, love knowing that my guild looks to me for guidiance. It is because of them that I still log in everyday. Without my family (guild) I would have left the game a long time ago. I can proudly say that I love them like brothers and sisters, and I hope that no matter what game comes out that we will continue to play together. I couldn't think of a better group of people to spend my time with.

Many people would say its just a game, blah blah blah. But the friendships I have forged in this game mean the world to me and I cherish each and every friend. (yes, even the ones in midgard and hibernia lol)

Egos.. hmm

Well yes there are those out there who do have rather large egos. :D Me, well I try not to be too proud but I suppose I do get rather cocky from time to time. I honestly can't answer that question, but I am sure there are those out there who might be able to answer better about me. I will admit I do get bitchy at times, but its only because I care for my guild. I don't like anyone to slag my friends and I will defend them. (err thanks Lakarell, I'm talking like you now!!)

BTW, there is a difference between being self-assured (cocky) and arrogant. Self assurance is very sexy to us women, arrogance isn't. (just a little note for you guys out there)

Anyway, thanks Des for the nice words. :)

ROTFL

Hun I already thought you were sexy. :)

But alas my flirting days are over (or at least toned down a bit)... I have to be a good girl now that Choppy is around.

Hmm Gombear, maybe if you petition Mythic, they'll give that to us in a future patch.

Should be a minstrel only ability though, since we all know that minstrels are the cuddliest. :)

ooops... back to the subject.

Yep, big thanks to all the GM's but also a very large one to the Roo, our alliance leader. I dread to think how many PM's he gets each day.

Heh, cheers Porkie

its kinda nice to hear from so many different people. I have to apologise though, I often miss PM's and I think sometimes people think they're being ignored. More than once I've PM'd someone several hours later and they can't even remember sending to me in the first place. Some often surreal chats follow. Funniest one ever has got to be in the middle of the last relic raid on one of the doors and someone started asking for advice on how to spec an SM.

It doesn't help that in PvE my favourite jobs are pulling and/or cc which require quite a lot of focus and if I'm solo its CrazeePull(TM) time (mmm scout mobs). I think Fedaykin officers have made macros /macro WakeUp /send Roo Please scroll back and read GU.

Yep there are occasionally times you regret logging on, but these are rare. There are so many good peeps around.

I'm not fooling myself: its the peeps in guild/alliance/realm/game that make it what it is, without them around anything you try to achieve is nothing.

More than saluting the GM's I think I'll salute the guildpeeps and *especially* officers that put up with us. Big thanks also to the various people that turn up for different things I've run - I'm always amazed and really appreciative when peeps start to show.

Been accused lately though of not doing enough for the realm which does sting a bit. I don't like to be in people's faces all the time bugging them to be doing stuff: the number of GM's that must groan when I PM ("oh bugger, what's he up to now..." followed by "bet this isn't going to be a short chat...") so I try to space it out a bit :D

if your guildees are relaxed people, you wont ever get those feelings :D

Being a GM for good people rawks. being a 'people' for a good GM rawks.

Locomo is my gm but doesn't come to these forums.
He's a top bloke, probably the best guildmaster out there! seems to do a good job. Tho admittedly the guildmaster of HDS' alt guild (mostly MEEEE!!) is teh pwnage!i!1! not that there's many gm duties to fulfil in an alt guild.

<cheers at Des> Good post!

Hehe.

Being a GM has its ups and downs but overall its a pretty good and rewarding job especially if the people within ur guild are nice. makes it alot easier and a hell of alot of fun.

For every real bad time u get u just have to look at the masses of fun and all the good times and u just forget the bad ones :)

Personally, ive found that its the officers and my fellow GM/officers int eh alliance that have helped me when im down not to mention Friends aof Course yeli :).

Look forward to seeing u all about.
