Spent hours trying to do the first mission on the 2nd island but keep getting attacked by the Mafia and the Triads

Its the one were you gotta kill the Mafia boss back on the first island, my sense direction as always being abysmal results in me spending 70% of the time trying to find the bridge to get back to the first island then the last 30% is in trying keep from being shot by the triads/mafia while not being dragged out the car by the same people

Hmm what i did on that one was go just down the road from luigi's to where the spray place is, i parked there and got out. Its just far enough away so u don't get attacked. Basically what i did then was get my sniper rifle out and shot him as he came out the backally on his way to the car.

As a tip,

(I'm not certain that all the cars will be loaded after)

When on the 2nd island and you have a garage with space for 2cars you can park even more in there by:

1) Taking the 3rd car to the garage
2) Get out car and goto garage reverse on of the vehicles so that it obstructs the door
3) Go back to third car and drive it in
4) Return to 2nd car and move it in so it clears the door

I've read that you can save upto 5 cars in the garage before you run out of room

I just saved with 3cars but I didn't try loading it again so hopefully that works

I had 5 cars in that garage (and 1 in the first garage on island 1) but I ditched a few cars from garage2 so I could fit my bullet-proof Patriot inside Handy vehicle that (given in a mission)

Urg, more timed missions "Grand Theft Auto" and some other mission given to me by the woman.

They're punishing the poor map readers

FS i couldn't play it last night

Planned to go home after work and play it all night... then 20min before work ends i get a phone call..

It's the Missus asking if i wanted to stay with her that night.

So i had to agree *sniff* now in work again and have to w8 until 4:30 to run home and play gta3

just go steal the cheetah in the multi-storey on island 2 and tear around for an hour or two - best way to get your bearings


oh and that mission with salvatore leone can be done a few ways, i like tooling up with automatics and grenades, once u get to the club and it says to stay away get up to his mansion entrance and steal a pile of cars... park them over the entrance to the estate so his car can't enter, and when his car arrives lob a few grenades into the pile of cars - instant mafia barbeque! heh

there are tons of missions you can shortcut with weapons like the rocket launcher and sniper rifle but I reckon it's about making a big a mess as possible of the people who've messed with ya, vendettas - gotta love 'em

Wasn't sure where else to post this....

Got GTA this morning, installed ok, couldn't see messages on the intro screen so I installed the WindowsXP patch and I got into the game.

Now I have a really obscure problem. The textures on objects don't show up at all. I can see the outlines of objects but there is nothing inside and they're all the same colour making it unplayable.

Nah it's just we couldn't anyway cause her house was full of children all sleeping in the same room as us. Her younger brother and 6 cousins (from 3 to 8 years old) were staying and we had to look after them alllllll night. Great fun

Got a screenshot here but my ftp account doesn't seem to be working.

Anyone got possible suggestions? My system below...

Yup, that bulletproof patriot rocks. When I had to go to the construction site and get that breifcase it was invaluable, just driving through that blue maze with everyone shooting at me.

I killed Salvatore by waiting for his bodyguards to get onto the pavement. I swept along it with my car, taking most of them out, then I got out of the car and went to the mouth of the alleyway that he comes out of and shot seven shades of shit out of him.

And I knew drive-by's were possible, I just assigned "look left" and "look right" to the extra 2 buttons on my Intellimouse, works like a charm.

^ignore it^ he's just bitter because XP doesn't like his 486


it's not XP - best bet is to update your detonators to 29.40's (leaked) - that has certainly fixed a few peoples rigs

if you're patient I would seriously consider uninstalling the existing driver from add-remove programs and *then* installing the new dets...

I wonder if they got the bugs ironed out from the PS2 version...

Such as:

A)The bullet proof cheetah/bobcat etc...
-you can get it by takeing a bus/firetruck, do the turismo mission, park it by your garage and place it so that when the cars come racing by, they drive in to your garage area and you can make them go into the garage, thus letting you nick their indestructible car.

B)The super jump thingy
-hard to explain, but let it be known that i have a jump distance of 666, height of around 207 and a rotation of 19400 degrees.

And i have flown the dodo for 3500 odd seconds - very boring and i have too much time on my hands.

Hmm... this game doesn't seem very smooth at any res between 800x600 and 1024x768. :/ Seems to lack the sense of speed that the PS2 version had. I guess I'd better think about buying that GeForce 4 ahead of schedule. :/

If the game looks like you are playing in the middle of the worst Fog bank ever your should try this:

Right Click on Desktop
Left Click on Properties
Select Settings Tab
Select Advanced Properties
Select GeForce Tab
Select Additional Properties
Select Direct3D Setting Tab
Tick "Enable Fog Table Emulation"
Select Apply
OK then exit

Ta got it working now. I removed the card and completely reinstalled with 23.11 drivers but it might have been the fog table thing.

I hate you, PR. Just been looking at prices for GeForce 4 Ti4400. Think I'll order one this afternoon.

for anyone who does the mission where you take ray to the airport and get his weapons/humvee, after you pick up all the stash, save it and go to the top of the multi story car park. Walk up the ramp, to the very corner of it and start picking people off. Particularly cops. You'll be fairly indesctructable as no one comes up the stairs, the only things that can shoot you are the helicopters, and they can be shot down )

carry that on till you have 5/6 star wanted rating then use the bullet proof humvee to launch yourself off the ramp, and try and get away from the tanks )

funny on the PS2 version i ended up knowing the first 2 islands off by heart! but the third one i got to and kinda stopped playing... still go back for the odd play tho - always find something else to try doing some jumps off!

i like trying jumps in that jeep thingy nice springy suspension!

is there anything additional in the PC version worthwhile? as it's only 20quid...
