greetings from avalon in regard to the upcoming PVP_Server

Ladies & gentlemen,

well sooner or later we will end up alltogether on one single server... I really hope that the upcoming conflicts on the PvP_Server will be funny and exciting to everyone... and we all will have a lot of thrilling moments and hopefully most of us will refind what we once lost on the RvR_Servers. Therefore I ask that everyone acts with respect and honor and no one ever forgets about the fact, that DAoC is just a game. I think I can state safely for the allies "Aran's Circle" (Hibernia) and "Wigrid Wall" (Midgard) that ppl from those fractions will not act in CS kiddy style on the PvP Server... we will not gang up against underpopulated guilds to bash them into pieces - just for the reason that we could.

If you ever get offended, you can be sure that there is always a diplomatic way to solve the situation... As we emphasize our members to respect ppl who don't speak german I really hope that you guys also state to your members that respect is keept at all time also for players who don't understand your language.

But, I know that a long time of shadow will arise and I really hope that a fair amount of guilds will take the opportunity to not let the PVP_Server become into a place where chaos and random destruction rules with fearsome fist. Be sure that we will defend ourselves if we have to... we will crush whatever intends to get us off our way. Most of our players are switching to the PVP_Server for the sake of "challenge" in PvP combat and for more player driven dynamics and RP behaviour and not to soil senseless destruction and to act as a pubertating kid... any guild which intends to "0wn" or "p0wn" at all cost will have to face us at the end. And I hope that we will not stand on our own...

You're fortunate that the Germans are planning ahead for the PvP server. There isn't much talk of what's going to happen here... and if any 'Uber' guilds are being worked on, they're keeping quiet about it :/


I have a feeling the PvP-war will be between French and German players. With the english-server chaps being randomly ganked, and ending up in French/German guilds. Simply because there is very little organisation, unity and loyalty here.



P.S. I hear the vast majority of German guilds, are role-playing ones. Is this true?

Hi Generic,

What about the existing allies aren't they planning to start as guild on the pvp server... if not enough come together why don't just merge with other allies untill you have a decent stack of ppl together? That's the way most german guilds are handling it... and most players are ready to give the pvp_server a try. Well a lot will decline after the first week... that's for sure but especially the first&second generation players which left the RvR_Servers allready will stay longer. I am not sure but as soon as ppl start to reach max level - the guild landscape may change again dramatically... this super populated guilds will be a phenomena only in the leveling phase i pretend.... later guilds will change more individual and reduce in size. As soon as ppl are 50 PKs, PK guilds and PPK guilds will start to appear or increase their appearance...

I really hope that english players will also have a strong setup on the servers. To have this flavor of different language backgrounds, will be one of the most interesting elements in that game, and a main advantage compaired to the us pvp_servers. Actually we will have players who don't understand each other... this will cause a lot of trouble but somehow, also add a lot of ambience. Spying finally can become an active game element, diplomatic skills and good relationsships to other guilds are turning out being essentiell. Even betrayal may occur. Missunderstandings will cause open conflicts which may result into guild wars.

Regarding the Roleplaying guilds, at least on avalon there are only few of them... I know that the situation is different on logres and stonehenge... there should be a fair amount of rp guilds around. But I cannot tell how much, but I am sure its still a miority on all servers.

Hmm just heard that the german gm's told in an irc session about that there will be two pvp servers:

- one for germans
- one for the others.

bah, that kinda sucks :/

well in a perfect world I would definitly agree about your statement. But unfortunately a PVP_Server will be not that perfect place... since... from discussions ongoing on german boards, and different posters on this board, I can tell you - and that was also one of the reasons why the gm's came up with their statement about seperated servers - that it would have been "german guilds - french guilds - english guilds". There are quite some logical reasons behind this assumption... just imagine that only a minority on the german servers is actually able to communicate in english... an even smaller minority is able to understand/communicate in french. For a lot of german ppl DAoC is their first MMORPG... the chance that they first bash what they don't understand is therefore pretty high, don't you agree?

well german gm's (fogwraith&wind i assume) told this to the german community on an official IRC session (with the submark: that they can't take responsibility for adding germans to the english and french *g*).

Untill you don't receive official confirmation on this topic its not official.

I for myself really hope that they rethink about it... if you go by the figures 8% (around 2k players out of 25k) of all players in the us gather on both pvp servers in high peak hours atm. If you break this down on the european servers... we will have a population problem after the first months... on both pvp servers after the first hype actually pulled out.

Take a look at the 60 days graph at Andred and it will confirm what you are saying even more....having more then 1 will mean low population later on.......even if I do think that 1 will be VERY full at peaks first coupple of weeks.

Only one PvP server is planned for now and it will be an English one.

The CS, the client, the server, everything will be in English and you will be asked to use English language on public chat channels.

My guild, Nolby Pride will be a pretty small guild, but we will attack ALL players over green con.

Killing Germans and french is of course fun, but killing old excalibur players isnt shabby either

Germans scare me.

camelot-seer proves that germans are even bigger powerplayers then scandinavian ones and i'm pretty sure that not all german people share the opinion solothores and his guild(s) has/have.

If the "and you will be asked to use English language on public chat channels." will be enforced as well as the CoC (especially naming conventions) ...

ps : solothores, NP are teh powerlevellers (tm), and imho it won't be long until everyone knows them

Personally.. I dunno if the PvP servers will be that cool. Sure, the first two weeks, it's all cool, since it's a new toy.

After that.. you either are part of one of the large guilds or you get ganked. There are no safe-zones (except the capitals) and there's nothing you can except getting ganked.

No doubt I'll go to check it our, but to be honest I think the PvP servers drawing nothing BUT CS Kiddies. Roleplay has even less space on a PvP server. The one advantage of PvP over normal server would be that you can actually talk with them.

Side-effect would be that when you gank them they can actually annoy you with their whining.. We'll see. I wouldn't be too optimistic if I were you.

There's a guild on Alb/Pry called: Noobi Pride
Seemed like a strange name for a guild... until I heard of Nobly Pride and worked it out.

You guys get my respect for setting camp on the PvP server, specially if you stay small and freeze recruitment. The only 'uber' guild I know of, willing to do so.



I will however, gank your lurikeen members.
