Watching Watson as he approached the 18th hole at the open and the commentators saying "If he wins this, it will be the greatest sporting achievement of all time"

What do you reckon? For me, an old guy with a bad hip whacking a ball around a field isn't particularly impressive but what would you cite as being better?

For me it has to be this:

YouTube - Ronnie "The Rocket" O'Sullivan fastest 147

There is no "greatest sporting achievement", unless someone beats everyone in every sport that is.

That may be great for snooker, but regarding swimming, it's moot.

Then again, commentators just use that kind of lingo and it doesn't mean that things are.

I'll rephrase for the compulsively contrary

What in your opinion is the greatest sporting achievement?

I guess you took it as "your example is crap", which is was not meant as.

Commented on the commentary, which you yourself didn't agree on, and stated that i don't think there is one as it's subjectional to the sport in question.

Not argumentative, my opinion. Thank you.

Toh, it's a sensible fucking request, without the need to pick apart the subject title. If you have not got one the answer is don't post.

I would go back before I even existed and say what Jesse Owens did was superb. Considering he couldn't even eat in the same restaurant as white people back in America and was given no real acknowledgement by the countries government until it was deemed it would not hurt it's parties chances of election.

More recently, Usain Bolt - How anyone can run that fast is just insane.

As must as it hurts a little to say it :p Arsenal going unbeaten for the whole season was an epic achievement. They played superb football along the way, and considering the quality of other teams that they faced no a week to week basis it is something that I can't see happening for many years to come.

Oops also that 147 was ajoy to watch, Ronnie is amazing to watch when he's on his 'A' game.

Then don't ask for a f*cking opinion.

What do you reckon?

Is not the title either.

So, f*ckity, offity.

Given my opinion on the subject, that is all. Don't like the answer? Go cry a river.

Same bull as people posting "I like this! Don't you? It's great!" and then get sh*t for saying "No, i don't." when asked.

I'm disputing nothing for f*cks sake...

And if anyone out there can say what the F*CK i did now, would be appreciated.

Oh now i know, i should've just been a good little boy and say "Oh i think the gweatest ever was when that guy did that thing!", without actually giving my own opinion.

Yeah, guess what, not your b*tch.

When Man Utd beat Bayern in 99 I think that's gotta be in the top 5, or even number 1. That Bayern side was such a hard team to beat so I always enjoyed watching them in the Champions League.

Seriously, STFU you stupid idiot. Do you have problems that make you need to argue with everyone? He asked a question, which was interesting, now if your not guna give him you opion GTFO.

And Imo either England geting to the RWCF in 2007, cus they were utter shit before that, or Man U beating bayern in that epic game in 99 :)

I did.

Thinking there is no greatest sport achievement IS an opinion.

"Which fruit do you like?"
"I don't really like fruit."

That's an opinion, not arguing.

Don't know how that was read as an argument starter.

Fischer beating Spasski in 1972 is a pretty strong contender in my opinion (considering the political circumstances etc.)

Yes, that answered it. Very helpful.

Glad you've joined the bandwagon.

STFU, GTFO. next
And back on topid - Ye Husain Bolt's 100M sprint has got to be in the top 5 - how someone can run that fast is amazing.

Three that come to mind...

Mansell winning the 1991 British GP.
YouTube - F1 - Mansell & Senna

Jonny Wilkinson's drop kick that secured an England win in the 2003 Rugby World Cup.
YouTube - Johnny Wilkinson drop kick

Daley Thompson winning the 1984 Olympic Decathlon.
YouTube - 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games - Daley Thompson's Decathlon

I'd have to say Daley Thompson because it wasn't just one sport or event. He was really good at all the Decathlon sports and it all just came together for him in Los Angeles.

After having a very constructive discussion with Calaen, realized the issue. Thanks go there.

A sporting event that i liked, from what i can remember on a limited sporting "liking" is most likely the 1995 hockey world thingy when finland brought home the gold.

That's more because of the nationwide celebration then anything.
