That was exactly my point to begin with? By adding you spoil my fun, and I've been pretty clear about that. It's not like I'm the only possible person to add on, so by adding on someone else, you could enjoy yourself and let me be at the same time, so I can try have a good run.
I don't run an opted group myself, in fact, I never have. Last time I actually ran with a fixed group was back in Avalanche, about 1.5 years ago. I've only ran in pug's since. The thing I like about fg-fg fights against opted groups while playing in a pug myself, is sometimes managing to beat decent groups in fg-fg fights, while having a challenging fight.

Straef, read my follow-up post as well. I think we might have a misunderstanding here, as I'm under the impression that you run in opted groups most of the time. That is, I value your group higher than mine on the food chain list.

Well, I do usually have higher realm-rank people in it, probably, aswell for trying to get the right classes. I do, however, run with different people/setups every day, and don't perform as well as a sg/gg could, unfortunately. I still don't stand a chance against Maelstrom/Legacy/Eclipse and whatever tho, but what can I do ;x Can't expect to beat rr11 sg's with a pug, I guess :(
I did both read and comment your next post by the way ;p

Sorry, you're right, I missed your post (getting a little hectic with many people posting at about the same time).

Thing is, trying to form balanced groups all the time can be very frustrating (due to not being able to find the right people/classes). I rather head out with a few guildies and friends and see what we can find in our frontier. I believe that when people stop making such a fuss about getting the occasional adds and accept that it's part of the game, then it will really lighten up the atmosphere and improve our realm over time.

p.s.: my example isn't as hypothetical as you think. It happens nearly every day. Fun can only be measured over a longer period of time, involving multiple events. That's why I didn't isolate it to the single event of being added on or not.

opted cant do anything against the zerg except log and wait till its gone. now where exactly is this fair?
.

Opted can stop supporting this IRvR shit and then there wouldnt be so many zergs/adding.

Opted WANT irvr, they want every group to go to the same area, therefore should expect to be added on. In past 3 weeks i had about 8 1vs1, 6 of them had 3+people adding (4 of the 6 was fg+ stealthers adding, All 4 fg's was opted groups)

Really, no point moaning.. you want fg fights, dont support IRvR, let the keeps be lost (opted hib groups always defend towers so keep port) and then use irc to say to enemy groups "We in X zone today if you want some fights"

And before you start repeating yourself again Straef, let me apologize for having been a bit snappy on /as. I appreciate having this discussion and I think it's a good idea to see it from someone else's perspective.

People will always moan about adding/zerging Alaron so that's pretty distant hope.

And god at half of people who posted here.

You should reroll Alb Prydwen :(

we can duo when clustered! dorinz the mighty is being leveled !!

And Xiang, got no problems with ya m8 but in this topic you are the one who is narrow minded (very!). You have a general idea of the game how it should be played... sorry it never been and never will be...

That quit job thing made me giggle though! (@work:p) :)

i see your point but it has its flaws

usually from the pov of an opted group you have about 2-3 clean fights on a good evening (on zergy evenings you sometimes dont even have 1 clean fight in the entire evening) now if you give -1 happyness to the opted group for every fight they get added on you end up at something like -10 or more at the end of the evening.

meanwhile the zerg is at about +20 happyness cuz they added/zerged everything tonight

I probably shouldn't have used any numbers, as I simplified it a bit by leaving out weighting and statistics.

as i said before ofc its not 100% fair but randoms can just start to play the game serious if they get tired of beeing farmed 24/7 by the good gg´s

Not everyone has the time to play the game 24/7. Does that mean they don't have the right to play with the big boys?

what can the good gg´s do vs the zergs? run 2fg´s? yes would be an option but most ppl in opted groups joined the guild for exact that reason cuz they dont want to run in more than 1fg. 2nd option is log for the night, which will most likely happen after they have been zerged enuff.

No one is forcing you to log off. I've seen opted groups utterly destroy zergs. You are at the top of the food chain, you can take on any fight you want and still have a decent chance of winning.

I, just like you mentioned, usually have a hard time making a semi-decent pug, but it's usually worth it, if we do any good.
In your 'night out in rvr' you didn't take into account that groups (or my groups, at least) get added on more, than that they get clean fights.
Like xianhuwhatever said, I'm lucky to get as much as one or two good fights in a night of rvr, while I get added on 5-10 times a night, which would mean that overall I'd be a very unhappy camper.

It's been a nicer discussion on fh than ingame, as I really coultn't be bothered when your guildies started replying aswell, being subjective and all.
But yeah, good to have dealt with it in a nice way at least.

In other words opted grps destroy fun for the randoms cuz they are so high RR (comes with effort) have 6-10 artis in template. (also comes with effort)
and randoms have all the rights to whine/add/zerg them cuz they are sooo evul.

In other words Alaron's not a random since he's got high RR as well as 6-10 artis in template.

i can't believe that ppl still argue over this since, at the end of the day, it's the ''random adding n00blets'' (or whatever you call them) that is right. it's war. you should attack and kill all members of the opposing realm. no matter what really.

however i do think it's much more fun to play with a balanced fg (the ''right'' amount of seers, dmgdealers, utility, etc) and to have FGvsFG fights, don't add on stealherfights (unless i know the mid don't mind and would like the help), don't kill greycons (more fun to mez them an /hug-spam), etc.

getting completely trampled by a zerg or adding fg isn't fun but i will never claw out their eyes for it because it comes with the game. i'll simply deaggro myself in /g or /gu and be gone with it. zerging and adding is a part of the game, it's just more fun not to.

Well said tbh,

& now im gunna say a few words of my own that im sure will please some :)

Problem is some (& i mean some) of these *opted* grps dont give a f00k about other realm mates in rvr, All they seem to care about (no matter what bullsh*t excuse they use) is RP & there e-peen.

Our guild has started to run a decent group again, & if we get added on by other hiblets, big fuckin deal, do i whine at em, spit my dummy out etc etc.. For those that curse others for realm mates adding, it will always happen (even more so wit cluster in normal rvr zones) so imo f00k off to CS or summit where the servers are for 8v8.

Its RvR, NOT grp V grp.

Fair enough if another grp followed you everywhere ya went to add, then yes this would annoy me. But if your in areas wheres theres other FG's/mini grps/random grps whatever, expect to be added on.

Fed up of all the "L337" kidz QQ'n when they get added on tbh

Zerging mong.. you could be so much better if you played the game like the rest. Setting up a group and running. Sad to be honest.

But it's still an achievement. But not an impressing one.

You will have fun in cluster ehehehe :D

excal/hib is not the same as prydwen/hib there are LOTS of opted groups who will flame you to hell and back everytime you add on them.

with cluster numbers of opted fg´s will dramatically increase in cluster atleast for hib, so i guess its the randoms who will have no more fun soon.

So more opted hib groups lawnmoving the random albs. Who will want revenge. Which leads to them moving together since they keep dying solo or in random fg. Even more qq incoming.

Hypothetically. Let's see what happens.

And Alaron! :worthy: Mighty zerg leader!

Funny thing really. If people are whining about Alaron getting rr10 or lots of realm points, they can actually control some of that.

They can stop going to the main place he is at, the bridge. Have seen him a couple of times near ruins with bot and caster army or zerg but apart from that, thats Alarons daoc.

I think he wont get many realm points come cluster, as the there will be more of an alb zerg and less visits anywhere near bridges by most. If people do go t will just be zerg vs zerg and hence no duoers or trioers he can zap alone from range.

Hello, clueless? Hib/Excal is nearly bereft of fixed and opted groups, I believe it is only a select few RvR guilds who are still active. Hib/Prydwen, on the other hand, is already filled with groups, or has the fact that Hibs outnumber the other realms in Prydwen RvR escaped you? I personally believe that clustering will be an infusion for Hib/Excal, not Hib/Prydwen.

Newsflash, with the amount of Hib gank groups, the "randoms" are already not having a lot of fun. Clustering will probably improve this.

That's funny. I was 9L7 before this iRvR shit started. Believe it or not, but Oriens bridge is not a good place for getting rps. I hated fighting on or under that bridge due to the whacky los around there. Often that was all you could though, because it was either camped by dozens of hibs/mids or opted groups were roaming in the area and there simply weren't enough albs to counter them.
